Job Description

Hirose Electric USA offers a hybrid Business Development Manager role based in Livonia, MI, focused on growing pipeline and sales across Michigan, Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, Indiana, and Kentucky. Reporting to the Sr. Regional Sales Manager, this position combines customer-facing business development with strategy execution, cross-functional collaboration, and measurable territory performance.

What you will drive

  • Exceed yearly territory sales goals across assigned states.
  • Grow Hirose customers, expand the sales pipeline, and increase conversion dollars by surpassing year-over-year targets.
  • Own local distribution performance, including growth in Point-of-Sale revenue (POS), new design registrations, design wins, existing customer penetration, and new account development.
  • Develop strategies and implement meeting plans to exceed quarterly meetings metrics, optimize customer satisfaction, and maximize revenue and profitability.
  • Actively partner with distribution sales and management by reviewing metrics, building partnerships, uncovering opportunities, and making joint sales calls.
  • Identify and expand relationships with distributors, manufacturer representatives, and key decision makers and influencers.
  • Use selling strategies tied to value-add areas such as technology, risk, service, investment, timing, and pricing to win designs.
  • Conduct frequent opportunity reviews with Distributor Account Managers to support accountability and involvement on the highest revenue potential opportunities.

How you will work with internal teams

  • Collaborate closely with Hirose customer support roles, including Field Application Engineer, Segment Managers, Inside Sales Reps, Customer Service Specialists, Technical Support Engineering, and Quality Engineering.
  • Create and deliver customized product presentations targeted to customer needs.
  • Interface with Engineering, Product Management, and Marketing by becoming a foremost expert on customers and their industries, guiding product direction based on future needs.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPIs) plans by identifying target accounts, contributing to promotion schedules, and aligning samples and pricing.
  • Monitor product development progress to drive the team to meet customer commitments and milestone dates.

Operational responsibilities

  • Maintain Hirose’s distributor registration program, resolve conflicts, and process requests expeditiously.
  • Complete quote activities from start to finish in a timely manner.
  • Provide customer support throughout development and production while keeping both customers and the organization informed of progress.
  • Manage and prioritize opportunities across active and targeted accounts.
  • Record and maintain accurate account, meeting, project, and opportunity data in Salesforce.
  • Submit required report outs, including monthly forecasting, reports, and presentations by established deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with sales policies, pricing guidelines, and best practices, including ISO9001-2008 tasks when applicable.

Qualifications

  • BS/A degree in Business or a Technical field required.
  • 3+ years of outside sales experience in the electronic component industry required.
  • Technical knowledge to understand customer requirements and recommend appropriate Hirose product solutions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including the ability to clearly and concisely communicate across cultures.
  • Excellent presentation skills, including creating PowerPoint presentations.
  • Ability to resolve issues and escalate in a timely fashion to meet customer needs.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; computer literate.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and strong energy.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

Compensation: USD 16 per hourly

Work environment: Normal office environment with a usually moderate noise level.

Physical demands: Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger/handle/feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Travel to tradeshows and company events; occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.
