Job Description

US Foods, Inc. is seeking a District Sales Manager to lead a team of Territory Managers and drive profitable growth across a specified district. This onsite role in Allentown, PA brings together sales leadership, coaching, and planning responsibilities, with compensation in the range of $80,000 to $130,000 per year.

In this position, you will oversee sales execution that supports revenue generation, account penetration, and churn reduction, while helping develop new account opportunities. You will also partner with internal resources to improve how the district works, from reducing administrative time to supporting account growth through specialized teams and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a group of Territory Managers (TMs) in selling the company’s products and services, using product and customer knowledge to support customers and drive revenue.
  • Direct TMs toward opportunities including closing, penetrating existing accounts, and acquiring and developing new accounts within the district.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to help TMs achieve profitable sales and case growth objectives.
  • Lead the team to meet Division goals for sales, penetration, and churn reduction.
  • Research, develop, and maintain long- and short-range sales plans; coach TMs on action planning to achieve AOP and company goals.
  • Support lead development and closing by directing TMs to high-quality leads, warming leads, and opening high-potential accounts, including working to ensure New Business Manager support where needed.
  • Administer the annual street sales operating plan and operating budget, including review and approval of street sales-related expenses, credits, donations, and contracts; track performance against plan and identify gap closures.
  • Leverage the Sales Coordinator role to reduce time spent on administrative tasks by resolving TM and customer issues.
  • Assist in coordinating product cuttings and demonstrations.
  • Develop sales and marketing strategies and proposals based on market research and customer needs; communicate sales data to support product and service planning.
  • Understand and utilize Sales Foundations tools and processes to grow sales, generate additional revenue, and maintain customer service standards.
  • Support recruiting, training, and mentoring for new hires and existing TMs, including field support and work-with sessions; evaluate training needs and recommend training as needed.
  • Oversee and assess TM performance against plan regularly, instituting performance improvement or disciplinary measures as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and product developments impacting target markets; establish and maintain industry contacts that support prospective sales.
  • Conduct periodic Customer Business Reviews to identify customer needs and relationship gaps, and assist with customer and delivery alignment and driver engagement.
  • Oversee communication and execution of company policies within the sales department and ensure the sales organization is appropriately staffed and managed to minimize turnover.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales & Marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of foodservice sales experience.
  • Minimum two years of supervisory experience.
  • Overnight travel may be required to participate in trainings, meetings, or other company events.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong customer service and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, preferably Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Candidates who have received a DUI conviction for drug or alcohol within the last three years will not be considered as eligible.
  • Other license history is reviewed and must meet company standards.
