Industrial Territory Sales Manager
Job Description
Allison Transmission is seeking a full-time Industrial Territory Sales Manager to drive growth and support regional profitability for Off Highway’s industrial business. This onsite role covers a defined geography across CA, OR, AZ, NV, and UT, with frequent customer and facility travel. If you want ownership of a territory roadmap, direct customer engagement, and meaningful impact on future sales growth, this position offers a clear path to performance through planning, forecasting, and distributor and account collaboration.
What you’ll accomplish
- Lead internal and external customer engagement for Off Highway in assigned tasks while reinforcing Off Highway’s core values.
- Own the region’s revenue and profitability plan for Off Highway Industrial business, building a foundation for sustainable future growth.
- Direct selling activities across the territory, including resource deployment and customer interactions aligned to Off Highway corporate objectives.
- Manage distributor relationships efficiently and coordinate with territory development and key account teams to support growth in defined key account segments.
- Deliver timely forecasting and sales tracking requirements to support regional planning.
- Set the regional strategic vision, develop and follow the approved business plan, and execute growth initiatives established in Off Highway’s annual budget process.
- Monitor market trends, gather competitive information, and identify trends that may influence current and future regional sales and profitability.
- Support special projects as assigned.
Territory fit and travel
This role requires frequent travel (approx. 50% of time), mostly within the territory, to engage customers and visit Off Highway facilities. Candidates should be located near a major industrial target city such as Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, or Salt Lake City and be open to ongoing regional travel.
What you bring
- English mandatory (other languages are preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience on Off Highway products.
- Knowledge of failure modes analysis, including 8D discipline and basic RED X knowledge (what failed and why).
- Strong computer skills with Microsoft and internet; Off Highway systems experience is an advantage.
- High verbal and written communication skills for face-to-face, phone, and email interactions.
- Strong process and teaming skills with frequent interaction with Leadership, Service Centers, and Customers; must be a self-starter who can drive department goals with minimal supervision.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is preferred; 3 to 5 years of field sales experience will also be considered.
- Preference for direct industrial customer experience in stationary applications related to Power Transmission and Gear Reducer engineering and/or sales.
- Track record of growing territory sales and overcoming customer objections.
- Ability to evaluate a sales territory, create a territory roadmap, and pursue new customer interactions using telephone and online engagement as needed.
- Accountability paired with curiosity toward the unknown.
- Working knowledge of the Stationary Industrial Market, Gear Reducer and Power Transmission Industry (F Brevini product knowledge preferred).
- Record of individual and team achievements in prior sales roles.
- Strong negotiating skills; formal sales training courses are a plus.
- Experience overseeing accounts receivable activity, escalating and resolving customer payment issues.
- Ability to learn and retain product-specific information and position features and benefits to customer needs.
- Computer literate with Microsoft Office, Microsoft BI, and Salesforce.com CRM.
