Manager, Business Development
Job Description
Support McGuireWoods LLP as a Business Development Manager for Healthcare and Life Sciences practices, acting as a primary driver of client opportunities and market messaging.
Responsibilities
- Partner with attorneys in assigned Healthcare and Life Sciences practice groups to build business plans, marketing strategies, and client targeting
- Lead business development strategy and execution for business plans and practice-specific initiatives
- Drive business development activities for conferences and seminars, webinars, and receptions
- Own client relationship management and account management strategy
- Manage client opportunities including pitches and targeting, plus RFP responses
- Develop and maintain marketing collateral, attorney bios, and examples of representative experience
- Coordinate and support directory submissions
- Build external and internal visibility through thought leadership, blogs, profile series, and related initiatives
- Contribute to budget planning and forecasting for business development efforts
- Serve as a mentor and team lead to junior colleagues
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of 5 years of business development and/or marketing experience in a law firm, comparable professional services organization, or within the Healthcare and Life Sciences industry
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities; capable of making decisions and adapting in-house and for client needs
- Strong project management experience, including conferences and events
- Strategic approach with understanding of branding and consistent messaging
- Self-starter who balances long-term strategic vision with effective day-to-day execution
- Experience with Foundation (or other knowledge management tools) is desired
- Technology-savvy with knowledge of relevant software and ability to learn new programs
- Interest in using innovative AI technology, including Harvey and Copilot, to support efficient, high-impact work
