Market Sales Manager
Job Description
Kohler seeks a Market Sales Manager for the New York City showroom to lead sales performance and client relationships within the Architect & Design community.
Responsibilities
- Set and manage expectations for the customer experience.
- Maintain the showroom to high standards aligned with the Ann Sacks brand.
- Train all associates on showroom and outreach sales processes to ensure consistent, high-quality interactions at each stage.
- Effectively resolve customer issues with timely resolution.
- Lead by example by developing your own client relationships and delivering superior service and sales results.
- Create connections with the architectural and design community through active participation in trade, industry, and networking groups and events; design in-showroom events to solidify relationships and drive growth.
- Build a strong network and talent pipeline within the industry and among sales professionals in the showroom's geographic area.
- Utilize network connections to recruit new sales staff for the showroom as headcount needs arise.
- Own the onboarding experience for all showroom sales and support staff; manage training, assess learning pace, and adjust plans as needed.
- Provide interactive discussions and role plays to new sales staff to practice and solidify skills.
- Partner with the regional manager and internal training resources to understand ongoing development needs and create plans and objectives for showroom staff.
- Ensure showroom goals are met through effective management of individual performance, margins, cost control, and operational efficiencies; take ownership of the showroom P&L.
- Review sales forecasts with associates and develop strategies to meet or exceed targets.
- Coach on strategies to close deals, including presentations, follow-up, outreach plans, and pricing promotions, balancing close activity with margin and profit goals.
- Drive territory development with high impact activities to build new business and re-engage past contacts, keeping Ann Sacks top-of-mind for decision-makers in the design community.
- Proactively coach underperforming associates to define deliverables and expectations and improve performance.
- Partner with the regional manager and human resources on disciplinary actions and performance improvement plans as needed.
- Ensure appropriate staffing and training across all roles.
- Manage time and attendance, coordinating schedules to meet business needs.
- Lead all showroom reporting, including daily, weekly, monthly, and annual analyses, and take actions to maximize profitability and efficiency.
- Maintain office support structure, including supplies and equipment.
- Collaborate with customer care and area administration to ensure a gracious post-sale experience, addressing client concerns and returns.
- Leverage resources from partner brands such as Kallista and Robern to boost knowledge and sales results.
- Provide feedback to marketing and merchandising on trends, consumer insights, and showroom needs.
- Work with operations and supply chain teams to understand and improve internal processes affecting product availability.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in a showroom, architectural/design firm context, with at least 3 years of experience leading a sales team within a department or location.
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in business or management, or architecture or design preferred.
- Experience in plumbing and tile industries is a plus; luxury sales environment experience is preferred.
