Operations & Business Development Manager
Job Description
Standard Truck and Trailer Sales, Inc. is seeking an Operations and Business Development Manager to oversee administrative, compliance, and safety functions while driving growth initiatives to expand fleet utilization, market share, and revenue. This onsite role is based in Fresno, California, with a salary range of USD 65,000 to 80,000 per year and a minimum of five years of related experience.
Responsibilities
- Business Growth & Marketing: Identify and pursue new rental accounts in the almond, pistachio, and wine grape sectors; design and implement Early Bird rental packages to secure fleet commitments before the May–August harvest; manage the Google Business Profile, company website, and local SEO to position the business as the region's top trailer rental provider; maintain a CRM to support seasonal outbound sales calls and SMS outreach.
- Operations & Compliance: Maintain 100% compliance with California State and Federal regulations (BIT inspections, DOT, and OSHA); oversee the bid process for shop materials and parts, negotiating with vendors to secure favorable margins; track trailer utilization and maintenance records, and identify underperforming assets for retirement or replacement; serve as the primary contact for rental contracts, billing inquiries, and coordination of off-site repairs.
- Personnel & Safety: Monitor shop staffing requirements and lead technician recruitment; oversee safety training, forklift certifications, and new-hire onboarding; collaborate with the Shop Foreman to schedule shifts, prioritize repairs based on rental deadlines, and coordinate extensive off-site scheduling for customer repairs.
Requirements
- Industry Experience: 5+ years in logistics, agricultural equipment, or heavy-duty trucking operations.
- Technical Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with Fleet Management Software is a plus.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for negotiating with vendors and presenting to large-scale growers.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with California trucking regulations and safety standards.
- Attributes: High attention to detail, a growth mindset, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.

Schedule & Environment
- Standard: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week
- Peak Season (May–August): Up to 60 hours per week and up to 8 Saturdays to support customer success
