Job Description
The Sales Development Manager role leads Abbott Rapid and Molecular Diagnostics in Infectious Disease, driving new business in South Florida with preference for candidates in the Greater Miami area and owning the territory pipeline from lead generation to close.
Responsibilities
- Expand Abbott’s footprint in infectious disease diagnostics by penetrating untapped accounts within the territory.
- Identify and qualify competitive leads and own a full pipeline from initial contact through contract close.
- Target accounts with no current business and create territory strategies to generate, qualify, and convert opportunities.
- Develop a deep understanding of the local market and use data tools to inform planning and prioritization.
- Lead the complete sales cycle, from first outreach to signoff on the agreement.
- Maintain strong, current knowledge of competitive products and positioning.
- Ensure new opportunities remain within the assigned geographic area.
- Execute proactive outreach, including cold calling, to gain access into competitive accounts and engage healthcare professionals and administrative stakeholders with the Abbott infectious disease value proposition.
- Open doors, influence perspectives, and position Abbott as the preferred diagnostic partner for point-of-care testing.
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Medical Affairs, Technical Service, Finance, Contracts and Pricing to deliver a cohesive customer experience.
- Build and sustain relationships with distribution representatives to drive Abbott’s infectious disease portfolio in the territory.
- Coordinate ongoing collaboration with distributors to continuously promote the ID portfolio.
- Oversee a smooth account handoff after the initial sale and coordinate with the local team to ensure successful implementation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 4 years of proven sales success in a relevant field
- Track record of converting leads to close, including competitive opportunities
- Experience as an individual contributor with strong problem solving, complex selling, planning, and execution skills
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory for four days per week, up to approximately 50% travel
