The Sales Manager (Gerente de Ventas) develops new business and strengthens relationships with existing clients to maximize revenue and meet assigned sales goals. This role focuses on the corporate meetings and executive group market, managing the sales process from prospecting and relationship development through negotiation and contracting, including guest room blocks for 11 to 19 guest rooms per night.
What you’ll do
- Present the hotel professionally and convey a favorable image through positive appearance, demeanor, and conduct.
- Meet or exceed productivity goals set by the Director of Sales.
- Sell hotel space and amenities for corporate meetings and events requiring 11 to 19 guest rooms per night.
- Negotiate contract agreements, including addendums that support upselling and revenue growth.
- Plan and execute direct sales calls, and participate in tradeshow activities, industry events, and assigned networking opportunities.
- Cultivate new accounts while maintaining profitable relationships with existing key accounts.
- Work with the Director of Sales to build a system for tracking the competitive set and identifying strengths and weaknesses to respond as needed.
- Drive financial growth by protecting rate integrity and upselling hotel amenities.
- Create and implement a strategic sales plan for target market segments with the Director of Sales.
- Maintain strong interpersonal skills with both internal and external customers.
- Ensure sales activity is accurately documented and completed on time per the Director of Sales.
- Support the Director of Sales and the sales team, including taking on new projects and assignments.
- Participate in safety and wellness programs and help keep the work area and property safe.
- Assist with marketing plan development and quarterly action plans alongside the Director of Sales.
- Attend weekly sales meetings to review groups and resolve discrepancies.
- Support a cooperative working climate to maximize productivity and employee morale.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
What you’ll need
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university or any equivalent.
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- A combination of experience, education, and/or training may substitute for either requirement.
- Previous similar position in a hotel or similar business entity preferred.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.
- Ability to maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, including under stress.
- Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods throughout the shift and lift up to 25 lbs.
