Vice President of Business Development
Job Description
Sparks, NV based leadership role owning the fire response business development vertical, building revenue strategy, and recruiting a small team to hit year-one goals.
Responsibilities
- Own the business development plan end-to-end, including building the forecast, defending the budget, and reporting actuals versus your forecast
- Recruit and launch two business development seats in year one, in addition to existing reps
- Coach reps on a weekly cadence: set targets, track performance, and make staffing decisions when production is not meeting expectations
- Carry top accounts personally while owning the fire response vertical, operating in the field until the vertical is fully staffed
- Track and report key metrics monthly by vertical: cost per lead, cost per sale, average job size, and market share
- Define market and investment strategy: which markets to pursue, what to invest, expected return, and timing
Requirements
- 5+ years leading sales, marketing, or business development teams with direct revenue accountability
- Proven experience building a referral channel or market vertical from nothing to real money, with the ability to explain results and numbers
- Experience owning a marketing budget, including how it was allocated and why
- Hiring and people management experience: coached salespeople and made decisions including letting some go
- Comfort operating with measurement and performance expectations for self and others
- Ability to be in the field daily and respond to a significant loss outside business hours when needed
- Northern Nevada network preferred, or a credible plan to build one quickly
- Restoration, construction, insurance, property management, or hospitality background is a plus
Compensation
- Base salary: $120,000 (range $110,000–$135,000 depending on experience and network)
- Department override: 1% of business development revenue, paid monthly
- Quarterly strategic incentives: up to $20,000 annually, on objectives you help design
- Annual performance bonus: up to $15,000
- On-target earnings: $165,000–$205,000
- Pay: $120,000.00 - $165,000.00 per year

Year-One Success Targets
- Existing referral verticals hold flat or grow
- Fire response business returns to its prior peak
- $750,000 in new revenue from a vertical the team does not currently have (you choose and make the case)
- Both open seats filled with hires who hit their numbers
- Department cost managed below 8% of revenue sold, on a path to 5%
Hiring Process
- Introductory conversation: 30 minutes
- Behavioral interview: 90 minutes with ownership team
- Working session: real business data sent 48 hours ahead; 2 hours to return an analysis and plan
