Job Description

WaterEquity is seeking a VP, Business Development to help build and scale capital raising for its Financial Institutions private debt evergreen strategy. This full-time, remote East Coast role supports investor relations efforts, helps create investor-facing materials, and represents WaterEquity at select industry conferences, with a focus on funding water and sanitation microlending through financial institutions.

Reporting to the Chief Investor Relations Officer (CIRO), you will manage fundraising across multiple investor types and contribute to the materials and relationship management that keep investor conversations moving from first inquiry through closing.

What you will do

  • Expand and execute fundraising for the Financial Institutions investment strategy, raising investor capital into the evergreen debt strategy from foundations, corporations, family offices, HNWIs, and Donor Advised Funds.
  • Partner with the IR team to develop organizational, fund, and investor-specific collateral including pitch decks, teasers, key fund marketing materials, and due diligence materials.
  • Own end-to-end sales cycle execution, from targeting to closing, including investor inquiries and due diligence requests.
  • Support investor relations activities and help maintain a high standard of client service for investors and prospects.
  • Provide insight into investor behavior and key trends to inform WaterEquity’s business and product development strategies, including support for internal and external conversations with strategic partners.
  • Represent WaterEquity at select industry conferences, including GIIN, SOCAP, and UN Climate Week.
  • Collaborate with Water.org, WaterEquity’s parent organization, to help raise awareness of the global water crisis and support capital raising opportunities for co-founders, management, and revenue teams.
  • Work with the IR team to maintain investor and prospect records in Salesforce, ensuring accurate and timely tracking.
  • Participate in organization-wide meetings and activities.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, finance, international development, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in business development, fundraising, and/or investor relations.
  • Familiarity with alternative investment products, including emerging markets private debt and/or evergreen funds, is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and clearly communicate investment and impact strategies to diverse investor audiences.
  • An emerging network of investor or industry contacts, especially those interested in impact investing, is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Salesforce.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and project management, with a demonstrated ability to deliver against targets and deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills to engage effectively with management, staff, and clients across levels.
  • Understanding of and passion for impact investing and/or international development.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time (domestically and internationally).

Location and work setup

WaterEquity is seeking a candidate based on the East Coast, USA to maintain proximity to NE Coast-based prospects and investors. Because this is a remote organization, you must be comfortable using remote-working technology and willing to travel to support company and individual performance goals.

Compensation and benefits

  • Expected salary: $120,000 to $140,000 per year.
