Business Development Assistant - Athletic Trainer - Sports

SSM Health Physical Therapy is seeking a Business Development Assistant to support sports outreach and growth initiatives across the region. This onsite role in St. Louis, MO coordinates team screening and partnership opportunities, while also assisting with injury hotline calls, direct access scheduling, and physician referrals when needed.

The position works closely with the Business Development Manager – Sports Outreach and helps strengthen relationships with athletic organizations and community partners. As part of the clinical support needs of the program, the assistant may also provide onsite AT coverage and contribute to athlete-focused marketing within their clinical expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in identifying, developing, and coordinating new team screening and partnership opportunities in coordination with the Business Development Manager – Sports Outreach.
• Build and maintain relationships with athletic organizations, schools, clubs, coaches, and community partners to increase participation and awareness.
• Assist with handling calls on the injury hotline.
• Schedule direct access patients and coordinate physician referrals.
• Support outreach efforts, event coordination, lead generation, partnership development, and tracking of key growth metrics to meet strategic objectives.
• Assist with the development of marketing strategies that align with the athletic trainer’s area of clinical expertise.
• Provide onsite AT coverage when needed.

Required Qualifications

• ATC Required
• BS Degree REQUIRED
• Minimum one year AT clinical experience
• National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) certification
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
• Applicable state license, ideally both MO and IL
• Ability to comprehend and explain results to parents and coaches for return to play programs

Preferred / Additional Requirements

• Experience with DorsaVi, VALD, and C3 Logix is a plus
• Ability to effectively communicate the value of athlete screening, injury prevention, and performance enhancement services to prospective partners
• Highly organized, relationship-focused, proactive, and passionate about advancing athlete health and wellness through community engagement and business development initiatives
