Furniture Business Development & Account Manager
Job Description
This onsite role in Columbia, Missouri focuses on developing and managing furniture sales and accounts across Columbia and Mid-Missouri, driving new business, building relationships, and delivering furniture solutions through consultative, cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Business Development & Customer Relationships: Develop new furniture business opportunities throughout the Columbia and Mid-Missouri market through strategic prospecting, networking, referrals, and relationship building. Grow and strengthen an established portfolio of furniture customers while identifying opportunities to expand each relationship. Serve as the primary relationship owner for both existing customers and newly developed accounts. Conduct consultative discovery meetings.
- Sales Performance & Accountability: Achieve annual sales, gross profit, and business development goals. Maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities through disciplined prospecting, relationship development, and consistent follow-up. Balance new business development with the growth and retention of existing customer relationships. Maintain accurate forecasting, CRM activity, and opportunity management to support business planning.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with designers to develop innovative workplace and learning environment solutions. Collaborate with Pricing Specialists to deliver accurate, competitive proposals that align with customer expectations and company objectives. Work with Project Managers and Operations to ensure a seamless transition from project award through installation and customer satisfaction. Coordinate with manufacturer representatives to identify product solutions.
- Financial & Operational Excellence: Develop furniture solutions that balance customer goals, competitiveness, and profitable growth. Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity, opportunity documentation, and proposal history. Support disciplined forecasting and reporting through organized pipeline management and CRM accuracy. Identify opportunities to improve sales processes, communication, and the overall customer experience.
- Team, Culture & Brand Building: Contribute to a collaborative, solutions-oriented culture within the Furniture Division. Serve as a brand ambassador, reflecting Office Essentials' purpose of creating Vibrant Solutions for Work and Learning. Build strong relationships across sales, design, pricing, project management, operations, and manufacturer partners. Share ideas, market intelligence, and customer insights that support continued growth and innovation. Help strengthen the Office Essentials brand.
Requirements
- Experienced in commercial furniture sales and business development (5β10+ years preferred).
- Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and energized by creating new opportunities and growing relationships.
- A consultative sales professional who enjoys learning about customer goals and developing thoughtful solutions.
- Highly organized with strong time management and follow-through.
- Comfortable balancing prospecting, account management, presentations, networking, and strategic planning.
- A proactive communicator who builds trust through responsiveness, professionalism, and accountability.
- Skilled at developing relationships with customers, architects, designers, owners' representatives, manufacturers, and internal teammates.
- Comfortable presenting solutions, leading customer meetings, and confidently asking for the business.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Teams, CRM systems, and other business applications.
