Sales & Business Development Specialist
Job Description
Outdoor Elements is seeking a Sales & Business Development Specialist to create opportunities and close sales across Salt Lake City, UT and beyond.
Responsibilities
- Generate opportunities and close sales
- Develop new customers locally and throughout the United States
- Prospect and reach out to landscape contractors, landscape architects, architects, designers, builders, developers, pool contractors, and other potential partners
- Build relationships with existing Outdoor Elements customers and increase repeat business
- Respond quickly and professionally to inbound leads
- Consistently follow up on proposals, opportunities, and past customers
- Run phone, video, showroom, and in-person sales meetings
- Visit jobsites and customer locations when appropriate
- Understand customer goals and guide customers to the right outdoor solutions
- Collaborate with design, estimating, engineering, and production teams to move opportunities from initial conversation through proposal and sale
- Maintain an organized sales pipeline and clearly document next steps
- Follow projects through the sales process instead of sending a quote and waiting
- Develop relationships that lead to repeat projects rather than one-time transactions
- Create estimates and send to customers
Requirements
- A proven salesperson with a strong drive to win business
- Comfortable prospecting and developing new accounts
- Confident making outbound calls and initiating conversations
- Excellent at building and maintaining relationships
- Persistent with follow-up without being pushy
- Professional and comfortable working with high-end homeowners, contractors, architects, designers, and business owners
- Technically curious and able to learn complex products
- Organized and disciplined about maintaining a sales pipeline
- Comfortable discussing projects worth thousands or tens of thousands of dollars
- Able to listen carefully and identify what customers actually need
- Able to communicate clearly with customers and internal technical teams
- Motivated by goals, accountability, and measurable results
- Must be willing and able to learn quickly
- Develop enough product and construction knowledge to answer most questions confidently and know when to bring in the technical team
Become a Product Expert
- You do not need to arrive knowing everything about fire features, outdoor kitchens, water features, pergolas, or metal fabrication
- Must be willing and able to learn quickly
- Customers often have technical questions, and salespeople are expected to answer most questions confidently and recognize when technical team involvement is needed
- Develop working knowledge of:
- Outdoor kitchen design and layout
- Fire features
- Water features and basic water-system principles
- Pergolas and shade structures
- Planters and architectural products
- Materials and finishes
- Metal fabrication
- Installation requirements
- Basic grading and elevations
- Construction terminology and methods
- Product capabilities and limitations
- The goal is to ensure customers and contractors recognize you understand what you are selling, not to turn you into an engineer
Experience that Would Be Especially Valuable
