Job Description

North America based Sales Director leads a high performing sales organization and drives profitable growth with Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers for chassis, suspension, rubber, and engineered components.

Responsibilities

  • Craft sales strategies aligned to company goals and technology solutions to accelerate growth.
  • Direct, motivate, and manage a team of account managers, with additional indirect oversight of project managers and engineers.
  • Expand outside sales through proactive outreach, new business development, and strengthening client relationships.
  • Oversee the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing while maintaining high customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Use CRM systems such as 123Go to monitor pipeline, analyze data, generate reports, and optimize performance.
  • Collaborate with marketing, product development, and technical groups to deliver tailored solutions.
  • Regularly analyze sales metrics to identify trends, forecast revenue, and refine tactics for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and execute a North American sales strategy to meet aggressive growth targets.
  • Build, lead, mentor, and scale an internal sales organization.
  • Identify and pursue new opportunities with Automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and industrial clients.
  • Generate RFQ opportunities through prospecting, networking, industry events, and strategic outreach.
  • Foster long-term relationships with purchasing, engineering, and executive decision-makers.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and secure new business awards.
  • Coordinate quotation activities with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Program Management.
  • Expand market presence via new product applications and market diversification.
  • Develop and communicate compelling customer value propositions.
  • Analyze competitors, market trends, and customer requirements to uncover growth opportunities.
  • Ensure customer qualification requirements are met to obtain sourcing approvals.
  • Develop sales forecasts, budgets, and KPIs; monitor performance and report to executives.
  • Manage external sales reps and distributors where applicable.
  • Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings across North America.
  • Establish and implement standardized sales processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coach and develop future sales leaders within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • Automotive OEM/Tier 1 sales experience: 10+ years (Required).
  • Sales leadership experience: 5+ years (Required).
  • Proven success selling to Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
  • Experience with chassis, suspension, rubber, metal, or engineered components.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate new business and win competitive programs.
  • Strong negotiation and executive-level presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience preferred.
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout North America.

Overview

An established global manufacturer of engineered rubber, metal, and Chassis & Suspension components seeks an experienced Director of Sales to guide North American business development. This executive role focuses on profitable growth with Automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers while leading a high-performing sales team. The ideal candidate has deep automotive supplier experience, thrives in securing new business, and collaborates with Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality teams as well as internal Operations, Finance, and Program Management functions.

Experience

Automotive OEM and Tier 1 sales experience of 10+ years is required, with at least 5+ years in a sales leadership capacity.

Pay

USD 145,000 - 175,000 per year.

Work Location

Onsite in Shelby Township, MI.
