Sales Director - Contractor Growth & Market Development (Roofing - Construction)
Job Description
Responsibilities
- Grow contractor revenue, expand active accounts, drive repeat purchases, lift average order value, improve quote conversion, and increase gross margin.
- Design contractor account programs, loyalty initiatives, national account strategies, and strategic partnerships.
- Identify and prioritize new geographic markets, customer segments, product categories, and adjacent revenue opportunities.
- Create go-to-market plans for entering new markets, product launches, private-label products, and complete roofing-system packages.
- Collaborate with Digital Operations, Operations, and Finance to remove friction from the online buying experience.
- Assess how contractors currently buy roofing systems and determine what RoofingDirect must build to streamline online purchasing.
- Develop scalable sales processes, including lead routing, quoting, follow-up, CRM standards, contractor onboarding, account development, and sales playbooks.
- Recruit, coach, and develop inside sales and growth teams; establish clear expectations, scorecards, and accountability rhythms.
- Provide market intelligence on contractor needs, pricing, competition, product gaps, delivery requirements, and emerging industry trends.
- Represent RoofingDirect at strategic customer meetings, industry events, tradeshows, supplier meetings, and partnership discussions.
- Evaluate future opportunities such as roof takeoffs, financing, installation referrals or partnerships, contractor tools, and technology-enabled services.
- Build an operating model that can scale from a small team to a national contractor-growth and market-development organization.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in roofing, exterior building products, building-material distribution, manufacturing, or contractor sales.
- Track record of developing markets, launching products or programs, growing contractor accounts, and building teams or business units.
- Deep understanding of how roofing contractors and building-product customers evaluate, purchase, receive, and use products.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen, including gross margin, pricing, conversion rates, forecasting, customer acquisition, and lifetime value.
- Experience creating sales processes, using CRM and ERP systems, and translating data into decisions and actions.
- Ability to lead through ambiguity, create structure, and move from strategy to execution without relying on a large existing organization.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel for customer development, supplier meetings, market launches, tradeshows, and industry events.
- Bachelor's degree required.

- Product Commercialization — identify gaps, support sourcing and pricing, package complete systems, and drive new product launches.
- Digital Sales Strategy — refine the quote-to-order journey, contractor portal experience, online tools, automation, and data-driven selling.
- Team & Process Development — build the people, systems, SOPs, scorecards, and culture needed for sustained growth.
