Sales Manager
Job Description
Millcraft is seeking a Sales Manager to help lead the commercial and operational performance of its Cleveland division. In this onsite role in Independence, OH, you will own full P&L responsibility while partnering across Operations, Finance, Business Development, Marketing, Human Resources, and other stakeholders to drive growth, profitability, and a strong store-level execution rhythm.
You will also build and develop a best-in-class team, support existing and new business initiatives, and use data and reporting tools to guide strategic planning and operational adjustments. Ground travel is estimated at 25% as you collaborate with store leadership and key partners.
What you’ll do
- Direct and oversee the total operation of the Cleveland division to support operational excellence and financial performance
- Collaborate in a matrix organization with leaders across Operations, Finance, Business Development and Marketing, Human Resources, and others on corporate initiatives, projects, issues, and organizational needs
- Own performance management and development, including coaching, training, and providing support and direction to the team
- Work closely with the sales team across existing and new business to build a division that is sustainably profitable and impactful
- Lead the team in navigating business challenges, ensuring issues are escalated appropriately and solutions are identified and implemented
- Participate in the annual budgeting process, including monthly sales reviews and updates
- Conduct periodic reviews with store management and local leadership to ensure alignment on store strategy and performance
- Evaluate division performance and recommend new strategies and performance improvement advances, driving solutions to completion
- Identify cost savings opportunities with accountability for continuous improvement and efficiency, collaborating with the Executive Team on best-in-class solutions
- Partner with Supply Chain management, Store Managers, and vendors to maintain appropriate inventory selection and levels
- Support key account management by collaborating on customer solutions to retain valued customers and grow the book of business
- Use Microsoft AX and PowerBI for business analysis, strategic planning, and operational adjustments tied to performance objectives
- Define key target customers for growth and track progression using metrics, measurables, the sales funnel, ERP system, and other tools
- Host periodic meetings across multiple levels, including monthly sales meetings and quarterly all-team meetings, modeled to drive productive outcomes
- Ensure accountability and compliance with company procedures and practices
- Lead by example and champion core values
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a field including business, marketing, or communications
- Minimum 5 years of top-level management experience in sales and distribution
- Paper (terminology and grades) and packaging experience is highly beneficial
- Prior P&L accountability with strong financial acumen, including understanding sales/revenue, costs, gross profit, and earnings
- Strong ability to analyze, compare, contrast, and synthesize information to generate ideas and recommendations
