Sales Manager, AA Vacations
Job Description
American Airlines is expanding its AA Vacations sales organization and seeks a results-driven Sales Manager to shape strategy, lead a portfolio of advisor and agency accounts, and drive incremental revenue across the vacation product. This onsite role is based in Fort Worth, Texas, and collaborates with Global Sales, Marketing, Reservations, Customer Relations and IT to embed enterprise assets and objectives into AA Vacations’ approach.
Responsibilities
- Influence the strategic direction and execution of AA Vacations' sales efforts
- Cultivate a customer-centric culture of learning, experimentation, and data-driven decisions to advance sales strategies and understand predictors of advisor/agency behavior that drive performance on aavacations.com
- Develop strategic plans for top advisor and agency accounts to drive accountable execution and achieve incremental profitability and revenue
- Implement account management best practices and optimize communications, support processes, quarterly business reviews, issue resolution/escalation, and coverage & commission/marketing fund optimization
- Build industry relationships to understand travel advisor and agency motives among individual advisors and senior agency leadership; represent the voice of the customer by collecting market feedback, competitive intelligence, and industry best practices to influence decisions
- Collaborate with Global Sales, Marketing, Reservations, Customer Relations and IT to identify new business opportunities and integrate enterprise assets and objectives into AA Vacations’ DNA, including upsell/cross-sell, premium, cobrand and loyalty initiatives
- Represent AA Vacations at industry events with speaking and panel engagements
- Willingness to travel when needed for business (50%+)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years of travel industry experience with sales, customer-facing roles or external customer/vendor relationship management
- Prior experience in Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Revenue Management or a travel company environment
- Demonstrates high ethical standards and integrity
- Strong problem-solving, negotiation and critical-thinking abilities with an entrepreneurial mindset
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external stakeholders
- Proficient presenter of both written and verbal communications across small groups and large audiences
- Action-oriented, data- and results-driven, customer-focused with a knack for identifying opportunities that transform business models
- Flexible in rapidly changing conditions and priorities
- Creative in developing innovative solutions to complex problems
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships at all levels, internally and externally
- Motivated by changing the status quo and skilled in negotiating to achieve outcomes
