Job Description

Senior leadership role shaping AWS energy strategy for data centers, partnering with utilities and energy firms to deliver large-scale power projects across regions, with an annual salary range of USD 155,400 to 210,200.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of a comprehensive utilities strategy for AWS data centers across new and machine learning regions.
  • Oversee a network of utility partners, EPCs and Owner's Engineers to design, procure and deploy medium and high voltage power infrastructure, including negotiations and contracting.
  • Develop and implement energy strategies that leverage capital projects such as grid connections, high voltage substations and energy storage to reduce long term energy costs; manage capital budgets for electrical infrastructure and energy initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Amazon CFE/RE team to identify and advance strategic energy sourcing opportunities.
  • Negotiate electricity supply agreements that add clean energy capacity via utility channels, lower costs, minimize risk and capitalize on opportunities for Amazon.
  • Oversee a portfolio of complex energy projects.
  • Partner with internal teams and regulated utilities to implement and manage energy projects on schedule.
  • Identify and advance innovative cost-saving initiatives across capital and operating aspects of energy infrastructure and supply.
  • Conduct due diligence on in-market opportunities and translate findings into cost savings for the business.
  • Engage with utility regulators to shape policies that enable broader AWS energy strategies and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or business-related field.
  • At least 12 years of experience in the utility or energy sector in commercial, business development, financial analysis, or infrastructure delivery roles.
  • 8+ years of experience analyzing energy projects and evaluating complex financial structures.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in carbon-free energy procurement.
  • Proven proficiency in financial modeling and net present value analysis for large-scale infrastructure investments.
  • Track record of managing multiple concurrent projects with strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
