Job Description

The Area Sales Manager, On Premise role at Johnson Brothers - Mutual Distributing of North Carolina leads District Manager teams, implements strategic sales plans, and collaborates with suppliers to meet company goals while maintaining strong key accounts from an onsite base in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, supervision, training, evaluation, and development to each District Manager team to optimize opportunities for success.
  • Collaborate with District Managers on personnel matters and territory alignment.
  • Enforce established work-with schedules and conduct coaching days in the field with District Managers and Territory Managers.
  • Maintain overall accountability for division personnel issues and territory alignment.
  • Assist in building sales plans, setting quotas, and aligning profit and supplier goals with practical methods to achieve them.
  • Regularly assess progress toward sales targets and report findings.
  • Support the Sales Manager in delivering a successful business plan.
  • Educate staff to expand product knowledge across the team.
  • Collaborate with supplier partners to foster a positive environment and drive goal attainment.
  • Continuously monitor market conditions to identify opportunities and improve business results.
  • Actively participate in developing and strengthening key account relationships.
  • Develop and manage lists of opportunity accounts to drive growth.
  • Assist the Sales Manager with accurate forecasting for inventory management.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and promptly address any problem accounts.
  • Adhere to company policies and applicable legal requirements governing the industry.
  • Participate in the preparation and execution of meetings and presentations.
  • Keep informed about competitive activity and market intelligence.
  • Properly use and care for all company property entrusted to the role.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable work area and vehicle condition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent training and work experience preferred.
  • Prior management experience in the industry is required.
  • Experience working with suppliers and/or in a wholesale or distributor environment is strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated coaching and leadership skills with a track record of positive results.
  • Understanding of wine and spirits is required.
  • Strong accounting, computer, customer service, and interpersonal skills are preferred.
  • Results-driven professional with excellent verbal and written communication, diplomacy, and discretion; strong customer service orientation; ability to multi-task and work independently or in a team; attention to detail; and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office and other presentation software; familiarity with industry tools is a plus.
  • Prior experience with DIVER, Go Spot Check, and Quota Tracker is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the assigned territory is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle; use of a personal vehicle is required.
  • Candidate must be able to pass criminal background and MVR checks.
