Business Development Manager
Job Description
Field-based Business Development Manager for Designer Greetings in Tampa, FL (onsite), responsible for growing existing accounts, expanding relationships, overseeing merchandisers, and cultivating new business across grocery, drug, and specialty retail channels.
Responsibilities
- Close orders from current and prospective customers through regular in-person visits within the assigned territory
- Build and deepen relationships with key stakeholders in purchasing, store management, and operations
- Oversee and support service merchandisers to ensure greeting card departments are well maintained and merchandised
- Identify new business opportunities and prepare or present proposals to potential clients
- Follow up on submitted quotes via phone and in-person engagement
- Maintain a consistent call cycle and ensure comprehensive territory coverage
- Provide monthly territory sales forecasts and updates
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity, reporting insights to leadership
- Maintain close communication with the VP of Sales regarding territory performance and growth opportunities
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support business objectives
Requirements
- 3 to 5 years of experience in wholesale or retail sales, merchandising, or business development
- Prior experience in greeting cards, gifts, or related industries is preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Highly self-motivated with a strong sense of urgency and accountability
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment
- Capability to meet physical job requirements, including lifting, standing, and walking
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $45,000 β $50,000 per year plus bonus opportunity
