Job Description
The Manager of Business Development and Marketing at Commonwealth Building Inc. drives growth by identifying new opportunities, building stakeholder relationships, and supporting sales and proposal execution through marketing and CRM-focused initiatives. This onsite role in Rockland, MA combines business development, marketing execution, and pipeline management to strengthen the company’s position in the AEC industry.
Role Overview
In this full-time position, you will align new business pursuits with strategic goals, develop and execute brand expansion plans within Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC), and coordinate key stages of the sales and RFP process. You will also generate leads through research and prospecting, support customer meetings and negotiations, and provide leadership with progress updates tied to business development indicators.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities aligned with Commonwealth Building’s strategic goals.
- Build and maintain relationships with customers, design teams, third-party partners, and industry professionals.
- Generate new leads through networking, market research, and prospecting.
- Conduct market analysis to identify industry trends, growth areas, and sector diversity opportunities.
- Develop and manage execution of strategic sales goals and business objectives.
- Develop and implement strategies to expand brand presence in the AEC industry.
- Attend and participate in trade shows, industry events, and local chamber functions to support promotion and relationship building.
- Arrange and conduct business meetings with existing and potential customers.
- Provide ongoing progress updates on business development activity and key indicators to leadership.
- Coordinate the sales and proposal process with estimating, project management, and leadership teams.
- Prepare sales presentations and support the presentation of formal proposals.
- Collaborate with Pre-Construction teams to facilitate RFP process success.
- Support customer negotiations to help secure contracts.
- Request and review customer feedback, then implement action items as needed.
- Identify and develop creative solutions to improve RFP materials.
- Create and manage targeted marketing campaigns and develop marketing content, including website, press releases, social media, and presentations.
- Monitor and analyze social media and website traffic, and coordinate portfolio photography for publication.
- Develop an onboarding process for new clients and establish workflows, automation, and best practices.
- Customize CRM software for business development needs, update and maintain the customer database, and enter and track leads, pipeline activity, and potential work.
- Manage customer communications, meetings, and opportunities from conception through completion.
- Build and manage proposal templates, including team member resumes, references, and project lists, and track proposals tied to the RFP process.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in sales, lead generation, client relationship management, and strategic partnerships.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong ability to build and maintain relationships with new and existing clients.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Capability to analyze market trends, identify opportunities, and develop effective strategies.

Compensation and Employment Details

- Salary: USD 90,000 - 110,000 per year
- Travel: 25% (preferred)
