Business Development Manager
Job Description
Based in Lubbock, TX and onsite, this role offers a yearly salary of USD 72,800–88,400 and centers on building strategic relationships, spotting and qualifying opportunities, and supporting proposals upstream of estimating and pricing.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate enduring relationships with Independent School Districts (ISDs), municipalities, and select private‑sector stakeholders
- Represent Sandia Construction with professionalism and credibility in target markets
- Expand Sandia’s presence in Lubbock and support expansion into additional locations
- Identify early‑stage project opportunities aligned with Sandia’s strategic priorities and capacity
- Gather project intelligence including scope, timing, stakeholders, and delivery method
- Apply established qualification criteria before escalating internally
- Provide leadership with clear insights to support go or no go decisions
- Support leadership in identifying target markets, sectors, and relationship priorities
- Generate relationship driven leads through networking, industry events, and community involvement
- Maintain a disciplined, strategic approach to pipeline development rather than transactional selling
- Assist in preparing, coordinating, and delivering proposals, qualification packages, and bid submissions
- Coordinate internal contributors like estimating, operations, and leadership
- Manage timelines, inputs, and deliverables throughout pursuit work
- Ensure proposals are complete, compliant, and professionally presented
- Contribute to sales presentations and client‑facing proposal meetings
- Provide relationship and market context to support pursuit strategy
- Participate in contract review and negotiation in a support role, aligning with leadership direction and mutually beneficial outcomes
- Help manage pursuit documentation and capture lessons learned to improve future proposals
- Provide strategic input on market positioning and brand visibility
- Ensure consistency across proposals, presentations, and public‑facing materials
- Support Sandia’s reputation through professional messaging and pursuit materials
- Maintain accurate relationship and opportunity data in the company CRM
- Track pipeline activity, pursuit status, and market trends
- Prepare concise reports for leadership on opportunity quality and market conditions
- Serve as the front‑end intake point for new opportunities
- Coordinate structured handoffs to estimating, preconstruction, and executive leadership
- Act as a conduit between external relationships and internal decision‑makers
- Background in commercial construction, real estate development, or public‑sector projects
- Experience supporting proposals, bids, or RFP responses in a construction or professional services environment
- Strong relationship‑building skills with public‑sector or institutional clients preferred
- Disciplined, professional communicator comfortable operating within structure and guardrails
- Strategic thinker focused on long‑term growth, not transactional selling
- Meaningful involvement in shaping growth and expansion strategy
