Director of Business Development
Job Description
Based onsite in Grove City, Pennsylvania, the Director of Business Development leads Orchard Manor's efforts to cultivate referral relationships and drive census growth. This role focuses on converting referrals into admissions and building trusted partnerships with hospitals, physicians, discharge planners, case managers, and community organizations. The position carries a salary range of USD 60,000 to 75,000 per year, requires a minimum of two years of experience, and a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct daily on site visits to hospitals, discharge planning units, case management teams, social workers, physician offices, rehab centers, and other community partners to promote facility services and nurture durable referral relationships
- Hold on site meetings with prospective residents and families, offer personalized tours, answer questions, and guide the admissions process with care and professionalism
- Inform referral sources about admission criteria, clinical capabilities, and current bed availability
- Oversee prompt and seamless transitions from referral to admission in collaboration with the admissions team
- Pursue every referral promptly with urgency to optimize conversion rates
- Serve as the primary liaison between referral sources and the admissions team to reduce delays and barriers to admission
- Monitor referral status in real time, flag stalled referrals, and take proactive steps to re-engage and finalize admissions
- Convey the facility's clinical strengths, specialty programs, and services clearly and promptly to move referrals forward
- Collaborate with clinical and admissions staff to ensure a frictionless intake process that reinforces confidence from referral sources
- Develop and sustain relationships with local physicians, specialists, and provider networks within the service area
- Plan and deliver office presentations, lunch-and-learns, and one-on-one meetings to position the facility as the preferred post-acute partner
- Act as a resource for providers regarding skilled nursing services, therapy capabilities, and specialty programs
- Represent the facility at health fairs, community expos, senior events, and professional networking functions
- Organize facility-sponsored events such as educational seminars, open houses, and community awareness programs
- Foster relationships with senior centers, assisted living communities, home health agencies, and other community partners
- Meet or exceed monthly census and referral conversion goals established by leadership
- Track all sales activity, referral sources, and outcomes in a CRM or contact management system
- Identify new market opportunities and report competitive intelligence to leadership
- Prepare and present regular reports on marketing activity, referral volume, and conversion pipeline status
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Healthcare Administration, Business, Communications, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered
- Minimum of two years of experience in healthcare marketing, sales, or a related role; experience in skilled nursing or post-acute care is strongly preferred
- Established relationships with hospital case managers, discharge planners, or physicians in the local area are a strong plus
- Proven track record of generating and converting referrals in a healthcare setting
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to build trust quickly
- Self-directed with the capacity to manage a territory and work independently toward census goals
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; CRM experience is preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required; frequent local travel is expected
