Environmental Business Development Manager - Water Quality Solutions
Job Description
Resource Environmental Solutions LLC is expanding its work in water quality improvements across the Southeast, and this hybrid role in Charleston, SC centers on turning client needs into advisory engagements and design-build project delivery. As the Environmental Business Development Manager for Water Quality Solutions, you will coordinate sales, proposals, and project discovery while helping RES position itself as a strategic partner for water quality outcomes.
What You’ll Do
- Own a defined annual sales target that supports RES’ strategic growth plan
- Prospect and build a sales pipeline at 4x to goal to drive growth in core business and emerging strategic solutions
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams through the RES sales process for a defined set of target clients, partnering with RES marketing and proposal teams as needed
- Act as a strategic advisor by monitoring relevant client issues and introducing innovative solutions
- Represent RES by attending and speaking at conferences and trade groups, and identify additional external leadership opportunities to increase brand awareness and lead generation
- Track and share insights on changes in customer behavior and preferences so RES can refine its offering
Requirements
- BA/BS in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Engineering, Agricultural Science, or similar science
- Three or more years of Regulatory or Environmental consulting experience as a “seller-doer” responsible for pursuing and delivering projects
- Established relationships with public agencies and regulators, private developers, consulting and engineering firms, non-profits, and academia within the Southeast
- Proven ability to sell to multiple stakeholders and build consensus that supports commercial booking
- Experience reviewing and preparing regulatory documents and deliverables, including responding to agency comments
- Advanced understanding of relevant environmental regulations and permits/approvals, including CWA 404/402/401, NWP/IP, NPDES, and ESA
- Strong grasp of restoration design principles, approaches, and technical inputs such as engineering design plans, functional calculations, and ecological data
- Ability to independently access state and federal databases, extract specific information, and interpret and communicate results
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, business dependent
What Will Make You Stand Out
- Strong familiarity with GIS capabilities and functions
- Exposure to estimating, scheduling, and budget development for project delivery
- Experience leading a multidisciplinary team within a defined sales process to win projects
- Advanced degree or additional qualifications in Project Management (for example, Project Management Professional) indicating comfort working across disciplines
- Relevant ecological restoration certifications such as Professional Wetlands Scientist, Wetland Professional in Training, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, or similar
- Experience with grant writing or participating in grant-funded projects, including federal, state, or other funding sources (highly desirable)
