Job Description

Thermo King, a business unit of Trane Technologies, is seeking a Regional Sales Manager for Bus HVAC to guide the Western United States and Western Canada. In this role, you will build and maintain relationships with Transit Authorities and Bus OEMs, driving Thermo King solutions across the region. The position is based in Minneapolis with remote work flexibility and requires frequent travel to customer sites to advance accounts and communicate Thermo King’s value proposition.

Responsibilities

  • Own customer relationships with Transit Authorities and Bus OEMs at all levels, serving as the regional face of Thermo King.
  • Maintain high market share with key existing customers and pursue new business at underserved accounts.
  • Travel frequently to Transit Authority and Bus OEM sites to develop strategic relationships with key decision makers.
  • Lead impactful sales presentations tailored to a variety of customer needs.
  • Articulate Thermo King’s value proposition to diverse audiences.
  • Forecast future business and proactively manage the sales pipeline.
  • Promote Thermo King at local and national trade shows, industry events, and technician competitions.
  • Collaborate with the Bus HVAC Western Regional Service Manager and Regional Aftermarket Sales Manager to ensure full account coverage and achievement of objectives.
  • Coordinate with independent, local Thermo King dealers to strengthen day-to-day customer support and engagement.
  • Act as a customer champion, advocating for clients to internal teams to drive operational excellence and product improvements.
  • Partner with Product Management and Sales Leadership to gather competitive intelligence and analyze market trends, providing actionable insights to guide strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, business, or equivalent; four-year degrees preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates without a four-year degree are encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in sales, business development, account management, or another customer-facing role.
  • Experience or knowledge in the bus market or another transport- or manufacturing-related field is preferred.
  • HVAC and/or refrigeration knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time and to Canada.
  • Travel to customer sites may occur in outdoor or garage environments; exposure to variable weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, heights, and other site conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months with no major or frequent traffic violations in the prior 3 years (examples include DUI, license suspension, reckless driving, or multiple smaller infractions).
