Location: Columbia, MO (onsite). Salary: USD 90,000 - 125,000 per year. Education: Bachelor’s degree. Experience: 5+ years.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities with general contractors, developers, and end-users, with a focus on large projects including data centers, industrial facilities, commercial developments, and infrastructure work. Maintain a robust sales pipeline.
  • Build and nurture strategic relationships with existing key accounts (contractors, specifiers, and owners) to maximize share of wallet, encourage repeat business, and foster loyalty. Serve as the primary contact for high-value clients.
  • Lead the sales process for major projects from qualification through bidding, negotiation, and contract award. Prepare competitive proposals, pricing strategies, and value-added solutions tailored to project needs including mix designs, scheduling, quality, and logistics for data center requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and upcoming projects (especially data centers and large commercial/industrial builds). Provide leadership with pricing, product innovation, and market positioning insights.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the sales team where applicable. Collaborate with operations, production, dispatch, quality control, and logistics to ensure seamless project execution and exceptional customer service. Contribute to mix optimization, delivery solutions, and issue resolution.
  • Establish sales targets, track performance metrics (volume, revenue, margin), forecast accurately, and implement strategies to meet or exceed goals. Prepare regular reports for senior management.
  • Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and terms while ensuring profitability and compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred). Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive sales experience in the ready-mix concrete, construction materials, or related construction industry. Proven success in business development for large projects strongly preferred. Experience with data center or mission-critical projects a significant plus.
  • Technical knowledge: Solid understanding of ready-mix concrete specifications, mix designs, testing standards (eg ASTM), project bidding processes, and construction scheduling/logistics.
  • Skills: Excellent relationship-building and negotiation abilities.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and forecasting capabilities.
  • Skills: Proficiency in CRM software, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and project management tools.
  • Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Skills: Self-motivated with exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Other requirements: Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the market area.
