Sales Manager
Job Description
The Sales Manager at Remington Lodging & Hospitality partners closely with hotel operations to drive higher occupancy and stronger room rates through proactive, aggressive sales activity. Based in Washington, DC (onsite), the role focuses on lead follow-through, proposal conversion, and the coordination of group and meeting documentation.
Working alongside the Director of Sales, you will maintain quotas, support assigned market segments with action plans, and ensure customer and guest needs remain a priority throughout the sales cycle.
What you’ll do
- Run an aggressive solicitation process that includes outside sales calls, inside appointments, telephone outreach, and individual letter and direct mail follow-up.
- Spend approximately 80% of the time on active sales solicitation.
- Assist the Director of Sales with the annual marketing plan, including action plans for assigned market segments.
- Send proposals on all qualifying leads and actively follow through from proposal stage to definite status.
- After holding space, send proposals and confirmations immediately to clients.
- Complete booking sheets by clearly documenting client room block requirements, suite requirements, and meeting and banquet space needs to support accurate facility reservations.
- Obtain, document, and route information for definite groups, including billing details, credit application materials, rooming lists, and VIP arrangements.
- Document meeting details such as menus and audio-visual arrangements, then pass them to the catering manager for follow-up.
- Maintain the assigned sales quota as directed by the DOS.
- Prepare and provide the DOS with weekly sales call reports and weekly itineraries of planned customer calls.
- Maintain a cooperative, friendly approach with fellow associates and support a consistent culture of guest service through courtesy, goodwill, and a positive attitude.
- Complete other reasonable requests as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Strong business communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to talk and listen to clients while demonstrating professional, courteous sales execution.
- Comfort operating in a high-demand, sometimes high-pressure environment.
- High work ethic and self-initiative.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
- Some travel is required.
- Regular attendance according to established guidelines.
- Ability to work varying schedules based on business needs.
- Basic computational ability and attention to multiple tasks with timely completion despite frequent interruptions.
- Ability to maintain excellent relationships with staff and uphold staff and guest confidentiality at all times.
- Ability to participate in, and at times lead, departmental and/or hotel team meetings.
- Physical capability to sit, stand, and walk for varying lengths of time; lift approximately 10 pounds.
- Finger dexterity to operate office equipment including computers, printers, multi-line phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and related tools.

Salary
Salary starts at $75,000 USD per year, depending on experience, plus participation in the quarterly bonus program.
