Senior Sales Manager
Job Description
Manage hotel sales execution in Denver to drive occupancy, average daily rate, and market share.
- Build and grow accounts: develop new accounts, maintain existing accounts, and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue goals and maximize profits while supporting guest satisfaction
- Hit financial targets: achieve budgeted revenues and sales goals; maximize profitability across areas of responsibility
- Own forecasting and planning inputs: support the annual departmental operating budget, hotel sales and marketing plan, and annual and monthly forecasts, plus other assigned financial plans
- Operate within sales standards: learn company sales policies and SOPs and ensure the sales team follows those policies
- Lead market planning: maintain market awareness to predict revenue opportunities, develop marketing plans, and set proactive strategies
- Present and sell: prepare and present persuasive presentations to prospective clients
- Strengthen community and industry presence: maintain networking opportunities via community and professional associations, activities, and events
- Represent the hotel: attend trade shows and major market events locally and nationally to promote new business and increase sales
- Coordinate across departments: promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination
- Retain and expand critical markets: focus on keeping and growing key market segments
- Develop business plans and competitive direction: monitor competition and market trends to maximize market share, guest satisfaction, profitability, and employee engagement
- Drive room sales through direct outreach: develop and maintain relationships with key clients; sell rooms through direct contact; maintain visibility via direct solicitation, telephone contacts, and written communication
- Execute tactical sales plans: create and implement hotel-level tactical plans to drive measurable incremental occupancy, increase average rates, grow off-peak business volume, and enhance the hotel’s local community image
- Ensure performance against plan: deliver sales activities/performance so actual results exceed the established revenue plan
- Engage guests and collect feedback: interact with guests/customers, obtain feedback, and ensure expectations are met and exceeded
- Act as a brand champion: promote the brand through local community involvement and build lasting relationships with local businesses, officials, and stakeholders
- Improve retention and future bookings: follow up with clients during and after departure to ensure satisfaction and secure future bookings
- Group business development: develop, actively solicit, and map group business accounts per defined territory
- Participate in sales management routines: attend daily business review meetings, pre-convention meetings, training, and other sales-related meetings as required
- Submit required planning documents: submit SMART Plans & Development Goals and yearly Market Place Action Plans
- Pricing and labor management: help control labor and maximize profitability; work with the sales team on competitive pricing strategy to grow market share, occupancy, Rev/PAR, and yield
- Lead people and culture: ensure success through the eyes of employees, guests, and owners; influence employees to perform at the highest standard; establish a trusting environment to enrich culture; operate with integrity and respect; lead by example
- Collaborate across the organization: utilize and collaborate with resources across departments and corporate office
- Support department and company mission: focus on the mission and well-being of the department, hotel, and company as a whole
- Additional duties: perform any other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Execute the hotel sales strategy: as defined by the Director of Sales and Marketing, to ensure occupancy, average daily rate, and market share goals are achieved
- Extended stay focus: work with the DOSM and the Regional leadership team to identify extended stay strategies and tactics that drive revenue based on seasonal demand
- Promote team values and standards: inspire the team to embrace and demonstrate Sonesta values and GUEST People Standards
- Professional reporting and documentation: participate in required sales meetings and submit SMART Plans & Development Goals plus yearly Market Place Action Plans

Compensation and Application Details
- Location: Denver, CO (onsite)
- Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
- Pay: $38.50 to $42.50 per hour (base pay may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience)
