Job Summary
We are seeking a Full-Cycle Business Development Executive devoted to the Government sector. This role concentrates on creating and cultivating new government opportunities by building trusted relationships, understanding public sector challenges, and presenting ATG as a long-term partner rather than a vendor. Success requires patience, credibility, discipline, and a solid grasp of how government agencies evaluate, procure, and adopt technology.
Responsibilities
- Identify and cultivate government opportunities by proactively engaging state, local, and education agencies through outreach, events, conferences, and strategic account planning; uncover opportunities early, often before an RFP is issued, by engaging end users, influencers, and decision-makers; monitor agency initiatives, funding cycles, capital projects, and fiscal timelines to align opportunities with budget availability.
- Lead outcome-driven discovery conversations focused on public sector results such as operational efficiency, risk reduction and compliance, infrastructure planning and lifecycle management, and maximizing taxpayer value; translate agency challenges into well-aligned solutions drawing on ATG’s expertise and services.
- Build long-term trusted relationships by establishing credibility as a knowledgeable, reliable partner within government organizations; nurture relationships over extended sales cycles, recognizing that trust and timing influence success; act as a consistent point of contact through the pre-award process.
- Navigate procurement and contracting processes by understanding public sector requirements, including RFPs, RFIs, and cooperative contracts; collaborate internally to position ATG effectively within procurement frameworks; support agencies through compliant buying paths while simplifying complex purchasing decisions.
- Collaborate to win as a team by working closely with account managers, product managers, and pre-sales specialists; ensure a smooth handoff after award to support long-term account growth and customer success.
- Stay organized and forecast accurately by maintaining detailed CRM records that reflect long-cycle pursuits and multi-stakeholder relationships; forecast conservatively and in line with government fiscal realities; manage time efficiently across multiple agencies and opportunities.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of B2B full-cycle sales or business development experience
- Patience, discipline, and comfort with long sales cycles
- Relationship-driven with credibility focus rather than high-pressure closing
- Strong communicator who listens first and sells second
- Organized, detail-oriented, and process-driven
- Self-motivated, curious, and eager to learn new technology and public sector workflows
