Automotive Business Development Representative
Job Description
The Automotive Business Development Representative supports internet sales and service by managing inbound leads, following up through multiple channels, and coordinating customer appointments. The position is based onsite in Commerce, MI and focuses on moving prospects from initial contact to showroom visits that lead to sales or service completions across dealerships throughout Michigan.
Location and Role Overview
Location: Commerce, MI (Onsite)
This Internet Sales and Service/Business Development role is responsible for responding to web inquiries and phone calls, working with existing customer data, and driving prospects to dealership locations throughout Michigan. Performance is measured by lead-to-showroom conversion and how many showroom visits result in sales or service completions.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to web-based electronic inquiries (leads).
- Work with and maintain information from the existing customer database.
- Handle inbound sales phone calls generated from prospects, customers visiting the website, associated web sites, and other lead sources.
- Send customer communications via email, telephone, and text in accordance with established standards and processes.
- Set dealership appointments, achieve lead-to-dealership conversion, and sell products according to department standards.
- Enter all prospect communications, notes, records, and appointment data into the CRM.
- Maintain tracking boards for Internet sales, updated each day of the month.
- Prepare reports covering appointments scheduled, appointments kept, and customer sales tied to leads received.
- Attend regular sales meetings for both the dealership and the eSales department.
Training and Lead Management Focus
Manage customer leads for vehicles and guide customers to the organization’s brand locations throughout Michigan. Complete training in the lead management and sales and service approach to connect customers with the sales and service team and support an excellent customer experience. Utilize and/or learn both traditional and internet-specific automotive sales and service processes.

- One to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two years of customer service experience (automotive experience not required).
- Proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer.
