Job Description
The Business Development Representative role at SCP Distributors LLC in Modesto, CA focuses on selling POOLCORP’s value, generating leads, and driving sales growth within a defined territory.
Responsibilities
- Develops a strategy to grow sales and profits in the assigned territory across key, opportunity, new, and existing customers.
- Prospects and generates leads via cold calling, networking, referrals, and online research, then follows up on qualified opportunities.
- Builds and maintains relationships by understanding client needs and acting as a trusted advisor over time.
- Plans and conducts a minimum number of daily sales calls with clear objectives for the assigned book of business.
- Travels within the territory to deliver tailored sales presentations and product demonstrations, proactively offering solutions.
- Negotiates terms, closes deals, and provides post sale support to address concerns and ensure satisfaction.
- Coordinates sales efforts with corporate marketing initiatives and incentives.
- Participates in industry events, trade shows, and networking to expand the customer base and stay aware of market trends.
- Provides quotes and product data promptly and accurately.
- Develops relationships with POOLCORP region and division leadership, including Sales Center, Region and Division Managers, and vendor reps to achieve both individual and broader goals.
- Maintains customer records in the CRM system and completes reports and call logs in a timely fashion.
- Stays informed about competitor activity, market conditions, and industry trends through ongoing research and analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum two years of professional level business to business sales experience.
- Proven track record of success in wholesale distribution sales.
- Ability to cold call prospective clients.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and foster long term relationships.
- Knowledge of industry products and distribution processes.
- Self motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Experience with one or more product lines such as pool equipment, plumbing supplies, tile, decking, exterior lighting, patio furniture, construction materials, building supplies, chemicals, landscaping or irrigation supplies, HVAC supplies, or similar tangible goods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft CE or other CRM and the full Microsoft Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Familiarity with Prelude or similar inventory management software is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record (no more than two violations in three years) and willingness to travel within the designated area.
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds occasionally, in the Sales Center or at customer sites.

Compensation
Salary range is USD 75,000 to 85,000 per year, with annual bonus opportunities, a company vehicle, benefits, and additional incentives.
