Job Description
The Business Development Representative role at TrueBlue Internal focuses on growing revenue in the local Chicago market by bringing in new customers and deepening relationships with existing accounts. Reporting to the Area Sales Manager, you will run field-based prospecting, consult with customers on workforce needs, and coordinate with internal teams to support contracting and service delivery.
This is a Chicago Downtown, IL onsite position with a fundamentally field-driven sales model, including frequent client engagement and travel.
What You’ll Do
- Prospect and acquire new customers in the designated territory through networking and lead development.
- Spot growth opportunities and build pipeline for new customer acquisition.
- Strengthen customer loyalty by developing and maintaining strong customer relationships.
- Execute strategic sales initiatives to meet and surpass sales targets.
- Consult with customers to understand their business needs and effectively sell PeopleReady service offerings.
- Work with PeopleReady contract and legal teams to negotiate contract terms effectively.
- Apply competitive bill rates and margins across customer contracts.
- Ensure the appropriate branch is informed of unique, differentiating customer details.
- Proactively identify and drive cross-sell opportunities across TrueBlue brands and neighboring markets.
- Develop account management and sales strategies to increase share of wallet and improve customer retention.
- Lead formal business reviews with key customers to evaluate performance and identify growth opportunities.
- Use technology and sales tools to create and maintain comprehensive account management and growth strategies.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitor offerings, and market developments to position TrueBlue products and services.
- Mentor other sales reps and client-facing employees.
Requirements
- Three or more years of related sales experience; bachelor’s, associate degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing a portfolio of at least $2.5M per annum.
- Sales experience in one or more blue-collar market verticals.
- Proven record of exceeding sales targets.
- Experience understanding, adapting to, and applying new technologies.
- Valid driver license, registered vehicle, and vehicle insurance.

Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000 - $72,000 annually, depending on experience and geographic location, plus eligibility for incentive pay subject to plan terms.

Work Environment
- Remote work structure, but the role is fundamentally field-based sales.
- Expected to spend over 50% of time on outside sales activities and client engagement.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and/or hear for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to lift or move up to 10 pounds.
- Travel is required.
- Visits to customer sites or local branches are required.
