Business Development Representative
Job Description
Business Development Representative (BDR) role for an onsite sales position in Wolfforth, TX, supporting POOLCORP value selling across multiple customer segments.
Responsibilities
- Create and execute a territory plan to increase sales and profits across key, opportunity, new, and existing customer segments.
- Prospect and generate leads using cold calling, networking, referrals, and online research; follow up on qualified sales leads.
- Build and maintain customer relationships by understanding and supporting customer business needs, acting as a go-to advisor.
- Schedule and complete a minimum number of daily sales calls with defined objectives for the assigned book of business.
- Travel within the designated territory to deliver sales presentations and product demonstrations and provide proactive solutions.
- Negotiate terms, close sales, and handle post-sale support, including resolving concerns and ensuring satisfaction.
- Coordinate sales efforts with corporate marketing initiatives and sales incentives.
- Attend industry events and trade shows to expand the customer base and monitor market trends.
- Provide quotes and product data promptly and accurately.
- Develop relationships with POOLCORP region and division leadership (Sales Center, Region and Division Managers) and vendor representatives to achieve individual and broader goals.
- Maintain customer records in the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, completing reports and call records on time.
- Stay current on competitor activity, market conditions, and industry trends through ongoing research and analysis.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional business-to-business sales experience.
- Proven track record of successful sales in a wholesale distribution environment.
- Ability to conduct cold calls to prospective clients.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and long-term relationships.
- Knowledge of industry products and distribution processes.
- Self-motivation and capability to work independently.
- Knowledge of one or more product lines such as: pool-related equipment, plumbing supplies, tile, decking, exterior lighting, patio furniture, construction materials, building supplies, chemicals, landscaping/irrigation supplies, HVAC supplies, or similar tangible goods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft CE or other CRM and the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Familiarity with Prelude or similar inventory management software is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record (no more than 2 violations within 3 years), with willingness to travel regularly within a designated area.
- Occasional ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds at the Sales Center or on customer sites.
- Must be 21 years of age or older to apply.
