Energy Services Advisor (Business Development/Account Management)
Job Description
Hybrid Energy Services Advisor role in Portland, ME, USD 60,000 - 100,000 per year, focused on maintaining and expanding a portfolio of energy and sustainability clients while delivering CES services and driving new business development.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of client energy supply contracts and cyclical renewals.
- Meet and manage client expectations, assigned workload, and any new business development goals.
- Leverage a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to maintain, track, and prioritize leads, opportunities, and contacts while ensuring data accuracy.
- Develop a thorough understanding of CES services to ensure clients receive full value.
- Support, manage, and steward consulting and procurement client accounts by responding to calls, emails, and market-related inquiries.
- Organize and lead client communications and meetings in person or via email, phone, or video conference.
- Prepare for, participate in, and lead client meetings; develop client presentations; provide analysis for deliverables including commodity analysis, recommendations, budgets, variance analyses, and other tailored reports.
- Resolve client issues by proposing practical solutions and clear recommendations.
- Keep informed about competitive landscape and energy market movements by reading industry publications and participating in weekly CES market update calls.
- Contribute to the ESA Team by engaging in group initiatives and helping achieve shared objectives.
- Collaborate with CES Marketing to plan and execute traditional and digital lead generation campaigns, including targeted emails, social media outreach, and telephone prospecting.
- Cultivate and manage current leads and opportunities by attending trade shows, speaking engagements, leveraging relationships for referrals, attending industry events, and identifying RFP opportunities aligned with CES offerings.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Demonstrates a passion for learning and interest in the energy sector, focused on meeting client needs and building durable, long-term relationships.
- Motivation for prospecting, achieving sales targets, negotiating, delivering customer service, and forging client relationships.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, stay self-motivated, prioritize tasks, and adjust efforts to support department or business goals.
- Strong communication skills across in-person, phone, and written channels, with self-confidence.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, proactive mindset, and reliable follow-through.
- Creative problem-solving approach and ingenuity.
- Proficient with computers, including MS Office applications.
- Willingness to travel within New England.
