Job Description

Heritage Headquarters is an event venue in Downtown Phoenix, and this 1099 Event Venue Sales Manager role is built for someone who enjoys turning inquiries into booked dates. You will run the sales process end to end, represent the venue in the community, and close with confidence using a rate card, approved discount framework, and repeatable sales tools.

Compensation: $2,500/month (paid on invoice) plus uncapped commission on collected venue revenue. Target first-year earnings: $55,000 to $70,000.

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Prospect and develop new business across three markets: corporate and HR/People Ops teams (offsites, all-hands, leadership meetings, activations), Maricopa County nonprofit development teams (galas, donor cultivation, fundraisers), and celebrations (weddings, quinceañeras, anniversaries)
  • Run venue tours and site visits with a close-focused approach
  • Own every inbound inquiry end to end: response, qualification, proposal, and contract
  • Build proposals, quote from the rate card, and negotiate within an approved discount framework
  • Maintain an accurate pipeline and deliver a weekly forecast to ownership
  • Develop referral relationships with event and wedding planners, caterers, DMCs, and hotel partners
  • Represent Heritage Headquarters at industry and community events across the Valley
  • Hand confirmed bookings to the operations team with complete, accurate detail, then follow up post-event to secure rebooking

Requirements

  • 2+ years in event, venue, catering, or hospitality sales (listed requirement: 3 years required)
  • Time in the Phoenix market
  • Experience quoting from a rate card and tracking a pipeline, with the ability to explain how pricing decisions are made
  • Strong tour presence: reading the room, listening more than pitching
  • Self-managing in a sales role where your week is built by you
  • Availability for some evening and weekend tours and events
  • Setup to work as an independent contractor (1099), including invoicing monthly and carrying general liability coverage

First 45 days: what you’ll help build alongside selling

  • The rate card across all six spaces by daypart, day of week, and season
  • The discount and approval framework
  • Lead intake and routing across every source
  • Pipeline stages, CRM setup, and weekly reporting
  • The tour script, proposal, and contract templates

Contractor compensation and commission details

  • $2,500 per month ($30,000 per year), paid on invoice
  • Uncapped commission on collected venue revenue: 6% on new business you source and close, 3.5% on inbound leads you convert, and 2% on repeat bookings within 12 months
  • Commission paid monthly, based on revenue actually collected
  • As an independent contractor, you set your own schedule and methods
  • This role does not include employee benefits

Helpful signals and advantages

  • An existing network among Phoenix corporate planners, nonprofit development staff, or the wedding and events community
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a strong advantage (English required; Spanish preferred)
  • Prior work building a rate card, sales process, and CRM implementation

Additional notes

This position is on-site in Phoenix, AZ and is a contract (1099) role.

This role is not event coordination, production leadership, or day-of management.
