Job Description

The Sales Manager role is onsite in Hickman, CA with an annual compensation range of USD 150,000 to 200,000.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust sales plans to meet revenue goals and broaden market presence.
  • Monitor market trends and adjust tactics to seize opportunities and mitigate challenges.
  • Lead, mentor, and energize the sales team to meet personal and collective targets.
  • Perform ongoing performance evaluations, provide feedback, and design training to boost skills and effectiveness.
  • Build and sustain relationships with key clients such as garden centers, landscapers, and other wholesale buyers.
  • Assess client needs and deliver tailored solutions to ensure high satisfaction across mass merchants, e commerce, and garden centers.
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle from lead generation through order fulfillment.
  • Ensure the team has access to the necessary tools and resources to succeed.
  • Track sales metrics and performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competition, and customer preferences.
  • Use insights to refine sales strategies and uncover new opportunities.
  • Collaborate with marketing, production, and logistics to align sales initiatives with company goals.
  • Provide input to improve product offerings and service delivery.
  • Prepare and present periodic sales reports to senior leadership.
  • Monitor KPIs and deliver insights on sales performance, market conditions, and growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • 5 to 7 years of sales experience in the nursery or horticulture sector, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Horticulture, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth; strong leadership, communication, and negotiation abilities; data analysis to identify trends and inform decisions; proficiency with CRM software and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Solid understanding of the plant wholesale industry, including market dynamics, product knowledge, and customer needs.
  • Strategic thinker with strong problem solving abilities; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and team members; highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Maintain mileage and expense reports for reimbursement.
  • Adhere to safe driving practices when performing company duties.
  • Own a vehicle capable of safe transport.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong multitasking skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Basic computer skills.
