Job Description
APAPA offers an onsite leadership opportunity in Sacramento for a senior development professional who will secure sponsorships, cultivate partnerships, and drive fund development. The position carries a salary of USD 100,000 to 150,000 per year and a benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and paid time off. You will work closely with APAPA leadership to advance programs, events, and organizational initiatives while building a durable funding strategy that strengthens community impact.

Responsibilities
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward sponsors, donors, foundations, government agencies, and strategic community partners.
- Generate financial support for APAPA programs, events, conferences, and organizational initiatives.
- Develop customized sponsorship packages, proposals, presentations, and other solicitation materials.
- Build and maintain an active pipeline of prospective sponsors, donors, and partners.
- Achieve annual sponsorship revenue and fund-development goals set by APAPA leadership.
- Negotiate sponsorship and partnership agreements and coordinate their fulfillment.
- Ensure promised benefits are delivered and that opportunities provide meaningful value and visibility for partners.
- Foster long-term sponsor relationships to support retention, renewals, and increased support.
- Identify grant opportunities, corporate giving programs, and other funding sources.
- Support fundraising campaigns, donor-engagement activities, and major-gift strategies.
- Collaborate with APAPA leadership on organizational fundraising priorities.
- Prepare proposals, presentations, reports, and other partnership-development materials.
- Evaluate and value sponsorship opportunities for programs and events.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate sponsors and strategic partners.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with business, philanthropic, civic, and community leaders.
- Ensure sponsors and partners receive agreed-upon recognition and benefits.
- Coordinate sponsor participation in events, programs, conferences, and related activities.
- Maintain accurate records of contacts, meetings, proposals, agreements, commitments, and follow-ups.
- Prepare regular reports on sponsorship revenue, partnerships, prospect development, and progress toward goals.
- Work with staff, chapter leaders, and volunteers to identify opportunities for current and new programs.
- Collaborate across the organization to ensure sponsorship commitments are communicated and fulfilled.
- Represent APAPA professionally at meetings, conferences, community events, and sponsor-engagement activities.
- Perform other related business-development and fund-development duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of experience in business development, fundraising, sponsorship sales, corporate relations, marketing, nonprofit development, or a related field.
- Proven success generating revenue through sponsorships, partnerships, fundraising, donor development, or sales.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to independently develop prospects, manage a revenue pipeline, and move opportunities from initial contact through renewal.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively with executives, board members, staff, volunteers, donors, sponsors, and community leaders.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM, donor-management, or contact-management systems.
- Willingness to travel periodically and attend evening or weekend meetings and events.
- Strong commitment to APAPA’s mission and organizational goals.
