Business Development - Sales Territory Representative

SMS offers an Outside Sales role built around a protected territory in the Grand Rapids, MI area, with pre-set appointments and strong sales support. If you enjoy face-to-face conversations and want the opportunity to drive meaningful results, this commission-only position includes daily cash bonuses and residual income, with $100,000 to $110,000 in realistic first-year earnings. Training and development are included through comprehensive new hire and ongoing programs, plus full benefits after 60 days and a 401(k) after 1 year.

What You’ll Do

As a Sales Territory Representative, you will focus on directing local appointments with owners of small to medium-sized businesses. Your goal is to market and secure a Survey Agreement while building relationships that support ongoing success.

• Prepare for appointments received from your assistant the day prior, with local travel only.
• Run 3 to 4 sales appointments daily with business owners, focused on marketing and securing a Survey Agreement.
• Provide feedback to the Business Coordinator after each day’s meetings and share new lead opportunities.
• Review successes and challenges with your Sales Manager to receive sales support as needed, supported by administrative staff who have a vested interest in your success.

What You Bring

• At least three years of business ownership experience and/or three years of face-to-face direct sales experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required, with consideration for the right experience over a degree.
• Strong self-motivation and self-discipline, with the ability to perform effectively with little or no supervision.
• Outgoing style and strength in relationship-building, especially with business owners, presidents, and CEOs.
• Excellent communication with strong listening skills to identify a client’s real “pain.”
• Ability to begin work immediately.
