Job Description
The Director of Business Development role is based onsite in Charlotte, NC, focused on driving revenue and profitability through targeted sales initiatives and marketing plans. The position partners with the VP of Sales and Preconstruction to design and oversee revenue streams that support sustainable, profitable growth.
Responsibilities
- Implement strategic sales programs aligned with company objectives to grow revenue and margins.
- Build and nurture relationships with current and prospective customers, engaging internal department heads and team members as needed.
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Sales and Preconstruction to execute the regional sales strategy.
- Develop and deploy a Market Strategy that leverages the organization’s strengths.
- Identify competitive advantages and pursue new markets to enable long term growth.
- Operate as a self-motivated professional with a proven ability to meet performance goals and sales targets.
- Maintain a minimum travel requirement of 50 percent within the designated territory.

Education and Training
Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, ideally in Business, Marketing or Engineering. Additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.
Work Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience developing and managing new business within the construction sector, specifically in the Pulp and Paper and Power industries.
Specialized Knowledge - Certificates & Licenses
- Business development expertise within the Industrial Construction sector; familiarity with building concepts and principles.
- Public speaking and presentation skills.
Software & Technology
- CRM systems
- Microsoft Windows and the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Concur for expense management; training provided as needed
Work Environment
- Frequent out-of-state air and road travel as required; a clean driving record and valid driver’s license are mandatory.
- A background check will be conducted during onboarding.
- Work is largely indoors but involves regular travel to meet with clients and business partners.
- Travel remains regular and frequent.
