Job Description
Resource Environmental Solutions LLC is hiring an Environmental Business Development Manager to expand water quality advisory services and construction or design-build projects across the Southeast. This hybrid role based in Raleigh, NC offers the chance to combine consultative selling with technical project impact, coordinating internal and external partners to win work through a detailed, multi-step sales process.
What you will focus on
- Meet an annual sales target that supports RES strategic growth plans.
- Prospect and build a pipeline sized at 4x to goal, driving growth in core offerings and emerging strategic solutions.
- Lead multi-disciplinary teams across the RES sales process, bringing RES solutions to target clients and partnering with marketing and proposal teams.
- Position RES as a strategic advisor by monitoring relevant client issues and engaging with innovative solution paths.
- Represent RES by attending and speaking at conferences and trade groups, and identifying additional external leadership opportunities to strengthen brand awareness and lead generation.
- Monitor and share insights on customer behavior and preferences so RES can continuously refine its offering.
How the sales process works here
The role centers on early client collaboration around water quality issues and requires coordinating internal and external teams to navigate a complex sales cycle. You will help build agreement across stakeholders so projects can be commercially booked, while ensuring the technical and regulatory aspects are addressed through coordinated proposal and delivery planning.
What you bring
- BA/BS in Biology, Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrology, Engineering, Agricultural Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years in regulatory or environmental consulting with seller-doer responsibilities, including leading pursuit and delivery of projects.
- Existing relationships within the Southeast, including public agencies and regulators, private developers, consulting and engineering firms, non-profits, and academia.
- Proven ability to sell to multiple stakeholders and build consensus that enables commercial booking.
- Experience reviewing and preparing regulatory documents and deliverables, including responding to agency comments.
- Advanced understanding of environmental regulations and permits/approvals such as CWA 404/402/401, NWP/IP, NPDES, and ESA.
- Sound understanding of restoration design concepts and supporting technical information, including engineering design plans, functional calculations, and ecological data.
- Ability to independently access state and federal databases, extract specific information, and interpret and communicate results.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, business depending.

- Exposure to estimating, scheduling, and budget development for project delivery.
- Experience leading a multidisciplinary team within a defined sales process to win projects.
- Advanced degree or additional qualifications in project management (for example, Project Management Professional) showing ability to work across disciplines.
- Relevant ecological restoration certifications such as Professional Wetlands Scientist, Wetland Professional in Training, Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner, or similar.
- Grant writing experience or experience working on grant-funded projects, including federal, state, or other funding sources (highly desirable).
