Job Description

Lead business development efforts to acquire new customers, drive revenue growth, and maximize enterprise profitability for Cowan Systems, coordinating cross-functional teams to close deals through the full sales process.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new revenue opportunities through targeted prospecting and strategic planning.
  • Assess prospective customers for financial solvency and long-term viability, ensuring alignment with approved credit terms.
  • Respond promptly to leads and conduct weekly face-to-face sales meetings.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Operations leaders to tailor client solutions.
  • Create, articulate, and present Cowan's value proposition to potential new business customers.
  • Lead contract negotiations for new business opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the implementation team to deploy client solutions.
  • Verify deal feasibility by confirming accessorial details and execution requirements align with pricing standards and can be delivered.
  • Oversee ongoing client engagement to ensure delivered solutions match proposals, including receivables and startup performance monitoring.
  • Maintain timely and accurate account management in partnership with the Customer Service team.
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Uphold the company's core values in all interactions.
  • Be available for on-site work at a Cowan facility as needed.
  • Be willing to travel 10 to 20 percent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least five years of truckload sales experience
  • TMS experience is desired, with TMW preferred
  • Strong customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of all terminal operation aspects
  • Travel may be required as dictated by business needs
  • Frequent ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer keyboard, and speak on the telephone; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds
