Sales Development Representative – Energy
Job Description
Victory Field Operations is building new Corporate Field Intelligence revenue across the U.S. energy and data center ecosystem, and the Sales Development Representative – Energy will play a central role in creating those opportunities. This position focuses on proactive, upstream engagement with corporate decision-makers and translating qualified prospects into scheduled discovery and proposal meetings with the closing executive.
The role sits onsite in Webberville, Michigan and is accountable for pipeline generation, accurate CRM forecasting, and coordinated handoffs so qualified opportunities move cleanly from early-stage development to contract and operations.
What you’ll do
- Generate qualified pipeline and new revenue opportunities for VFO’s Corporate Field Intelligence practice, maintaining full accountability for established individual pipeline and meeting goals.
- Conduct proactive outbound prospecting to priority corporate organizations, decision-makers, and strategic partners in the energy, data center, and infrastructure ecosystem to create opportunities before inbound leads appear.
- Build and manage a disciplined sales pipeline in VFO’s CRM, ensuring each qualified opportunity includes a defined stage, estimated value, next action, owner, and expected close timeline.
- Guide prospects through early sales stages, from initial engagement through qualification, leading to a scheduled discovery or proposal meeting with the closing executive while maintaining momentum toward the next step.
- Develop working knowledge of the U.S. energy and data center development ecosystem, including utilities, renewable energy and battery developers, data center developers, owners, operators, site-selection professionals, and government and public affairs teams; monitor development activity for potential VFO opportunities.
- Build and maintain prioritized target-account lists by researching organizations before outreach and mapping relevant decision-makers, influencers, advisors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support account-specific proposals in coordination with Operations, Finance, and executive leadership, gathering information required to scope opportunities accurately.
- Position VFO’s Corporate Field Intelligence capabilities as distinct from traditional political canvassing, connecting field intelligence to the client’s broader development, government affairs, or community-engagement strategy.
- Represent VFO at priority energy, data center, and infrastructure conferences and industry events, setting sales objectives in advance and completing disciplined post-event follow-up.
- Identify ways to expand initial engagements across additional sites, markets, jurisdictions, and projects by developing multiple relationships within strategic organizations.
- Facilitate complete and accurate handoffs from sales development to the closing executive, contracting, and operations, ensuring Legal, Operations, and executive leadership have visibility into scope, pricing, timelines, and client commitments.
Education and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Real Estate, Political Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent professional experience in corporate B2B sales or business development will be considered.
- Minimum three years of business development or complex B2B sales experience required, with a track record of identifying, developing, and closing new business with corporate clients in real estate development, infrastructure, energy, technology, or related sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with senior corporate decision-makers and conduct consultative discovery conversations to develop solutions based on the client’s environment.
- Experience identifying target accounts, mapping decision-makers, conducting strategic outbound outreach, and managing longer-cycle sales opportunities through to close.
- Proficiency in CRM-based pipeline management and sales activity tracking required; experience coordinating proposals, pricing, and handoffs with legal and operations teams preferred.
- Ability to operate independently in a high-accountability environment, manage frequent travel across the United States, and represent a premium brand at industry conferences and events; Michigan residency required.
Success looks like
- Consistent generation of significant Corporate Field Intelligence revenue with a growing pipeline of high-value opportunities at every stage.
- Penetration of priority corporate target accounts and early relationship-building with decision-makers before procurement opportunities open formally.
- Creation of qualified opportunities upstream of community or development crises, enabling proactive positioning.
- Measurable pipeline results from conferences and industry events, not just new contacts.
- Every account and opportunity in VFO’s CRM reflects accurate, current intelligence that supports executive visibility into sales activity and expected revenue.
- Engagements expand into multi-market, multi-site, and repeat corporate relationships.
- Success is evaluated through qualified meetings booked, pipeline value created, target-account penetration, conversion, and long-term client value rather than networking activity or conference attendance.
Tools and work style
- Uses VFO’s CRM as the authoritative source for pipeline, account intelligence, and forecasting information.
- Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods managing pipeline activity, CRM records, proposals, and sales communications across multiple active opportunities.
Travel and location
- Onsite work location: Webberville, MI 48892 (required).
- Must be able to travel frequently throughout the United States, including recurring travel to major energy and data center development markets and industry conferences, with occasional short-notice travel and evening or weekend availability as business needs require.
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential requirements of the role.
Pay
