Job Description

Join Westmont Group in Denver, where you will help drive group business and maximize banquet space at Hyatt Regency Denver Tech Center. This onsite Senior Sales Manager role includes clear revenue accountability, customer-facing responsibilities, and support resources, along with benefits that help you stay healthy, settled, and growing.

Compensation: USD 80,000 - 90,000 per year. Location: Denver, CO (onsite). Experience: 3+ years of progressive sales experience.

What you will do

  • Solicit, book, plan, and coordinate meetings and functions while maximizing banquet space to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Build top-line department revenue by following sales strategy guidelines set by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Identify revenue opportunities based on event profiles and close the best opportunities for the hotel based on market conditions and hotel needs.
  • Meet and exceed individual revenue goals and actively manage customer budgets to maximize revenue, meet customer needs, and support up-selling throughout the sales process.
  • Respond to incoming inquiries within your market segment within 4 hours.
  • Target key accounts, markets, and segments using proactive solicitation and account saturation, with a focus on accounts with higher revenue potential.
  • Proactively identify, qualify, and solicit new business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with existing and new customers through sales calls, entertainment, and FAM trips as appropriate.
  • Conduct customer site inspections and make your presence known throughout the process, regardless of which hotel you are supporting, including greeting the customer during the event phase and handing off to Convention Services for execution.
  • Coordinate and communicate verbally and in writing with customers (internal and external) on event details, and follow up post-event.
  • Forecast group sleeping rooms and revenue prior to turnover and continue partnering after turnover.
  • Create sales contracts as required, understand budgets as needed, and support department financial management.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through guest hospitality leadership, including handling guest problems and complaints and working with leaders on guest service results and corrective action plans.
  • Utilize Delphi (or other hotel systems) to capture and manage customer information on a daily basis.
  • Share learning and help develop talent, including mentoring others in the sales process.

Skills and experience needed

  • 3+ years of progressive sales experience.
  • Able to “knock on doors” to secure business, with weekly prospecting and soliciting goals.
  • Aggressive negotiating and creative selling skills with strong conversion outcomes.
  • Previous hospitality experience preferred; experience selling luxury brands and experiential services preferred.
  • Research capability using the Internet.
  • Knowledge of menu planning, food presentation, and banquet and event service operations.
  • Ability to manage guest room and meeting space inventory.
  • Strong sales ability to up-sell products and services, including contract management and legalities.
  • Financial management skills, including understanding P&L statements, managing operating budgets, forecasting, and scheduling.
  • Strong communication (verbal, listening, and writing), problem-solving, organization, presentation, and closing skills.
  • Strong customer and associate relationship management skills, with effective decision-making and the ability to balance short- and long-term perspective.
  • Software and systems knowledge: Microsoft Office and Delphi including Delphi Diagrams.
  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and adherence to SOPs, policies, and procedures.

Operational note

The hotel operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.
