Automotive Business Development Manager
Job Description
An Automotive Business Development Manager at Exit5 Auto Group in Latham, NY serves as the primary point of contact for customers who inquire about vehicles through the dealership CRM. This onsite role combines direct customer outreach, scheduling and test drive support, and a structured training path that can lead into sales management and then finance and transaction leadership.
What you will do
- Use the CRM to respond to customers by text, phone, and email
- Answer vehicle questions with relevant information
- Help customers schedule an in-person visit or test drive
- Greet customers when they arrive
- Prepare and provide a vehicle information packet
- Set up a test drive
- Gather packet information using the company’s systems
- Follow the process for obtaining a driver’s license copy, providing keys, and placing a dealer plate on the vehicle
- If the customer decides to buy, introduce them to a sales manager
- Maintain accurate CRM records and follow a consistent process
- Own customer follow-up and your own results
Sales management development phase (phase 2)
- Structure deals using desking software
- Review credit reports
- Work within lender rate matrices and approval parameters
- Submit applications and deals to lending partners
- Verify documents for financing, funding, and DMV requirements
- Explain purchase paperwork to customers
Finance and transaction leadership phase (phase 3)
- Complete lender and DMV signing requirements
- Present vehicle service contracts and related products appropriately
- Manage a deal through lender funding
Training and career path
The role includes a training plan focused on the dealership sales process, CRM, and other sales software. You will be trained to gather packet information using the company’s systems, and you will receive instruction from nationally recognized automotive finance trainers covering compliance and customer presentations.
- Phase 1 expected length: approximately 12–18 months
- Phase 2 expected length: approximately 24–36 months
- Advancement: development stages are not automatic promotions; advancement depends on performance, demonstrated proficiency, and business needs

Schedule and work location
- Location: Latham, NY (onsite)
- Work location type: In person
- Schedule: Five days per week, Monday through Saturday; Sundays and one weekday off
- Hours: Monday–Thursday 8:00 AM–6:00 PM; Friday 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Saturday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
Compensation and benefits
Starting pay: $52,000–$60,000 per year, plus discretionary monthly bonuses. Technologies include CRM and desking software.
- Phase 2 (sales management development): $70,000–$85,000 annually, plus bonuses
- Phase 3 (finance and transaction leadership): $90,000–$100,000+ annually, plus bonuses
