Job Description

FM is seeking a Business Development Advanced Engineer to accelerate growth in the Hazardous Location and Industrial Internet of Things markets across the Americas. This onsite role in Norwood, MA focuses on identifying new opportunities, strengthening customer engagement, and supporting product certification initiatives. The position offers a salary range of USD 106,000 to 152,000 per year and includes an incentive plan, as well as career development opportunities and comprehensive benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify opportunities within targeted industries.
  • Develop and execute annual business plans.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with team members, customers, and member companies across the Americas.
  • Travel overnight to meet customers, participate in events, and attend trade shows, typically 25% or more.
  • Support the development of technical knowledge and communicate market trends to internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and maintain a solid understanding of targeted industries, including regulatory landscapes, competitor intelligence, challenges, and opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business / marketing with relevant experience in an engineering or technical role.
  • 4+ years of experience in product certification, industrial automation, IIoT, or engineering roles.
  • Working knowledge of Hazardous Location standards such as FM, ATEX, IECEx, NEC/CEC, UL, or CSA.
  • Experience with IIoT technologies, including industrial sensors, connected devices, communication protocols, and condition monitoring systems is beneficial.
  • Strong ability to translate technical certification requirements into clear customer value propositions.
  • Experience in business development, technical sales, and/or marketing for industrial or regulated sectors.
  • Knowledge of FM Approvals certification offerings and/or FM Loss Prevention Data Sheets is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
