Group Sales Director
Job Description
The Group Sales Director role at The Wasserstrom Company is based onsite in Huron, OH and oversees the Foodservice Equipment team's sales, project management, design, and operations across the Midwest.
Responsibilities
- Steer the department’s growth by engaging independent and multi-unit restaurants, architects, and related professionals to demonstrate the value and practicality of offered products and services.
- Drive process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency and profitability.
- Support staff by collaborating with end users to select equipment, optimize processes, or leverage services to reduce costs or enhance operations.
- Identify potential clients within the territory, with a focus on existing businesses, startups, and non-food service segments that may require equipment.
- Maintain and expand existing accounts through in person and virtual meetings, broadening product offerings such as Smallwares, Furniture, and Exhaust Systems.
- Assess client needs through observation and interviews, understanding typical requirements, and recommending products to boost productivity.
- Assist in setting up credit accounts for new clients and advise on necessary documentation.
- Participate in resolving credit issues related to returns, defective merchandise, and service problems.
- Advocate NexGen and preferred vendors, providing training and support for brand adoption.
- Protect and grow existing accounts by negotiating contracts, closing deals, and serving as a consultative resource for end users.
- Own data and analytics for the team and contribute to reporting and insights.
- Design and help implement a training program for the Foodservice Equipment team and oversee its execution.
- Train direct reports on design guidelines and industry best practices; develop cost estimates using client documentation to project production impact.
- Collaborate with the team to draft sales contracts, ensure accurate pricing, and establish discount structures.
- Match client needs to known products and stock items, considering end use, health department regulations, and multiple-use products; verify product IDs with end users when needed.
- Set clear performance goals for staff, monitor progress, realign objectives as needed, and provide development opportunities to foster growth.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of relevant experience in sales leadership or group sales roles.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Ability to read and interpret safety, operating, and maintenance documents; write routine reports; and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Strong mathematical skills for calculating discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Solid reasoning and problem-solving abilities to handle practical scenarios with varying variables and interpret diverse instructions.
- Proficient PC skills with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with SAP is preferred; familiarity with AI tools is a plus.
- Proven problem-solving capabilities, including gathering and analyzing information, developing alternatives, and applying reason in challenging discussions.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to manage difficult situations, respond promptly to needs, solicit feedback, and meet commitments.
