Sales Manager
Job Description
The Sales Manager at Sonesta Miami Airport executes the hotel's sales strategy, builds account- and segment-based plans, and collaborates with the DOS and regional leadership to drive occupancy, ADR, and market share, including extended-stay revenue strategies.
Responsibilities
- Deliver on the Sonesta Service promise in all interactions with guests and clients.
- Manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service among hotel associates.
- Develop new accounts, maintain existing accounts, and implement sales strategies to meet revenue goals and maximize hotel profits while sustaining guest satisfaction.
- Build and maintain relationships with key clients to generate extended-stay room sales.
- Regularly sell hotel rooms through direct client contact.
- Partner with the hotel DOS and Regional Sales Director to maximize RevPAR opportunities in the local market.
- Achieve budgeted revenues and personal/team sales goals, maximizing profitability in all areas of responsibility.
- Produce regular reports and sales forecasts.
- Identify operational issues affecting marketing activities and overall sales performance; collaborate with department heads on solutions.
- Create and implement hotel-level tactical sales plans that drive incremental occupancy, raise average rates, and increase business volume during off-peak periods.
- Enhance the hotel’s image within the local community.
- Deliver sales activities to ensure actual sales exceed the established revenue plan.
- Analyze current and potential market and sales trends; coordinate activities to maintain and grow revenue and market share.
- Coordinate with other hotel departments to facilitate services agreed upon for prospective clients.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with local community officials and groups.
- Act as Manager on Duty as required.
- Attend Evening Social and Breakfast events as a representative of management to prospect for additional sales leads.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local health, safety, and alcohol service laws.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Hotel experience: 2 years required
- Sales experience: 3 years required
- Fluent English (reading, writing, speaking); additional languages beneficial
- Professional verbal and written communication skills
- Mathematical proficiency including budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances
- Strong problem solving, reasoning, motivation, organizational, and training abilities
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
- Ability to travel, including some overnight travel
- Valid driver’s license required
- Physical requirements: frequently standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility
- Carrying, lifting, or pulling items weighing up to 25 pounds; frequent handling of objects and equipment
