Job Description

Miramont Behavioral Health in Middleton, Wisconsin is seeking a seasoned Business Development Director to lead growth initiatives for inpatient psychiatry and outpatient behavioral health programs from an on-site location. The role centers on expanding referrals, gathering market intelligence, and stabilizing census through strategic outreach and strong partnerships with clinicians, hospitals, and community partners. This leadership position collaborates with executive teams to align services with community demand.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and leads business development strategies aligned with organizational goals to drive inpatient and outpatient service growth.
  • Recruits, trains, leads, and evaluates the business development team, ensuring accountability, clear goals, and high engagement.
  • Designs census development plans on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, including campaigns, territory structure, and measurable KPIs.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to assess market conditions, identify opportunities, and align services with community demand.
  • Identifies, develops, and expands referral sources including hospitals, clinicians, crisis centers, community agencies, and other professionals.
  • Maintains a robust schedule of account visits, outreach contacts, and follow-up with weekly activity reporting.
  • Builds and sustains strong professional relationships with physicians, clinicians, case managers, discharge planners, crisis teams, and community partners.
  • Teaming with Admissions/Intake to ensure efficient lead management and smooth transitions into acute and outpatient programs.
  • Partners with clinical and operational leadership to optimize referral pathways and improve conversion rates.
  • Conducts community presentations, hospital tours, workshops, and education sessions for referral partners, patients, and families.
  • Maintains accurate referral and activity records and provides regular analytical reports.
  • Represents the facility at professional organizations, community events, and business functions.
  • Ensures marketing activities comply with organizational policies and behavioral health ethical standards.
  • Develops and maintains departmental policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • Maintains professional conduct, attendance, and confidentiality.
  • Participates in required in-services, trainings, and professional development activities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years of healthcare business development or marketing experience, preferably in behavioral health or addiction treatment.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric services, crisis systems, outpatient behavioral health levels of care, and referral dynamics.
  • Proven ability to develop referral sources and grow new business lines.
  • Strong relationship management, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of market demographics, utilization patterns, and competitive landscapes.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and automobile insurance if required.
  • Must complete required facility training.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience, including coaching and team development.

Compensation

Salary offered up to USD 140,000 per year.
