Business Development Representative
Job Description
Arnold Oil Company of Austin is seeking a Business Development Representative to help drive revenue through strong relationships across assigned territories. This Houston, TX onsite role focuses on building and maintaining accounts, managing an active pipeline in Salesforce, and supporting growth and profitability objectives through consistent field activity.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain trust with customers by communicating effectively, driving execution, and solving problems with high integrity.
- Service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily outreach to sales outlets and relevant trade factors.
- Build a database of qualified leads using referrals, telephone canvassing, face-to-face cold calling, direct mail, email, and networking.
- Maintain an opportunity pipeline in Salesforce to support growth in GM$ and GP% objectives.
- Follow up on new leads and referrals generated through field work.
- Gather and submit detailed business information used for pricing and presentations of solutions for identified prospects.
- Adjust sales presentation content based on the sales outlet or other trade factors.
- Present and sell company products and services to current and potential customers.
- Assist customers with required forms and paperwork to activate and maintain customer accounts.
- Keep management informed with activity and results reporting, including daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
- Provide the level of follow-up required to ensure timely payment collection.
- Participate in technical training program development and delivery for customers, prospects, and company employees.
- Monitor competition by collecting current marketplace information including pricing, product updates, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
- Recommend adjustments to products, services, and policy based on results and competitive developments.
- Resolve customer complaints by investigating issues, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through workshops, professional publications, product marketing information, networking, and participation in professional organizations.
- Manage account services through quality checks and other follow-up activities.
- Maintain historical records by tracking area and customer sales.
- Meet the minimum number of sales calls established by the Business Development Manager/Regional Manager.
- Ride with factory representatives as needed, assist with inventory activities at warehouses or retail stores, and support inside sales at retail stores as needed.
- When applicable, ensure bulk oil tanks are labeled correctly and legibly.
- Support coordination of company staff to complete the work required to close sales, and perform other duties assigned by the Director – Business Development.
Required qualifications
- 1 year of minimum sales experience (1-3 years preferred), ideally in aftermarket automotive parts and/or lubricants.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- Commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace.
- Ability to develop pricing and proposal models understanding, manage multiple projects with little or no supervision, and keep sensitive information confidential.
- Tact, discretion, strong communication, and ability to persuade and influence others.
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials and deliver presentations.
- Basic knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques.
- Proficiency with MS Office and other computer software.
- Self-motivation, quick learning, professional presentation, and the ability to work well with others.
- Ability to meet deadlines and handle challenging situations.
- Significant local travel to customers; requires a valid Texas driver’s license.
- Willingness to work additional hours as needed, including weekends and holidays, and travel to various company locations.
- Ability and willingness to comply with company policies and all local, county, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

- Installers, new and used car dealers, fleets, construction companies, parts stores, industrial accounts, and other businesses using lubricants, auto parts, automotive equipment, or lube equipment.
- Territories and boundaries may be established.
Location: Houston, TX (onsite)
Compensation: USD 60,000 per year
Monthly sales meetings are held in the assigned region, and the role also involves participating in the annual sales meeting in Austin, TX.
