Job Description

In West Palm Beach, Hyatt Place West Palm Beach is seeking a Sales Manager to lead sales efforts that drive new and repeat business. This role focuses on negotiating and closing deals to exceed targets, while maintaining service excellence for guests and customers. The successful candidate will manage client communication, qualify opportunities to support budgeted revenue goals, and keep sales activity fully documented in the property’s system.

As a Kolter Hospitality Sales Manager, you will develop action plans with the Director of Sales & Marketing, stay current on market developments, and represent the hotel in client and industry settings. You will also ensure strong follow-up before and after groups and events to help secure satisfaction and future business.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit, negotiate, and confirm new and repeat business through direct sales calls, sales blitzes, appointment calls, trade shows, site visits, and marketing to meet or exceed individual, team, and hotel budgeted revenue goals.
  • Fully qualify business potential and ensure pricing aligns with budgeted revenue goals.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales & Marketing to build quarterly and annual action plans for assigned market segments.
  • Stay current on market trends and news by reviewing CoStar, business journals, and industry periodicals, and by participating in networking events.
  • Represent the hotel professionally by attending client and industry functions.
  • Research competing hotels, prospects, and network connections; conduct shops to assess pricing and sales acumen, including selling techniques and responsiveness.
  • Respond to leads within the assigned market segment within 1-4 hours during the business week.
  • Manage sales communications including contracts, proposals, site inspections, pre-cons, BEOs, and Group Resumes, maintaining positive collaboration with Revenue Management, Reservations, Rooms, and F&B outlets.
  • Meet clients upon arrival and prior to departure to ensure contract details are delivered.
  • Document and track all sales activities in the sales system used on property in a timely, accurate, and consistent manner.
  • Confirm groups, meetings, and payments are handled before the event, including submitting guest checks, payments, master folios, and advance deposits to accounting.
  • Follow up with clients after each event to confirm satisfaction and secure repeat opportunities.
  • Demonstrate leadership by motivating and coaching the hotel team to maintain an always-selling mindset.
  • Report to work on time, well-groomed, and in professional attire, representing the hotel, brand, and company appropriately.
  • Follow all safety procedures while working.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of hotel sales experience, with preference for candidates with brand sales certifications.
  • Experience selling to multiple market segments and verticals, including Group, BT, and Catering Sales.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office™, plus familiarity with property Management System(s).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the English language for verbal and written communication with guests, associates, and vendors.
  • Ability to design and prepare statistical reports and presentations as needed.
  • Ability to accurately report information.
  • Ability to assist with various accounting department tasks as needed.
  • Ability to timely obtain required licenses or certifications.
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Report to work on time and in professional attire.

Scheduling / Attendance

  • Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, varying schedules may be required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.

Physical Demands

  • Lift up to 20 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 10 lbs.
  • Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, and the ability to talk, hear, and see.

Environmental Conditions

  • Inside work environment: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes (inside work is approximately 75% or more of the time).

Math Skills

  • Compute discounts, interest, profit and loss, commission, markups and selling price, tax, gratuity, and percentages.

Language Skills

  • Read newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals.
  • Write business letters, summaries, and reports following prescribed format and rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.
  • Participate effectively in discussions and debates; speak extemporaneously on a variety of subjects.
